    aif -> FLAC question

    I converted some uncompressed aif files @ 1411 kbps to FLAC level 6 and the files are about 60% compressed (expected) but only in the 570-720 kbps range (seems quite low). Any ideas why this might be the case? I apply ReplayGain (not ReplayGain apply) as a DSP, and nothing else. Thanks.

    720Kbps is around 60% of 1411Kbps, so is correct.

    Well, average across the album, is actually more like 580. I haven't gotten kbps that low when ripping from CD with what I think are the same settings.

    Compression depends on the type of audio, your CD must compress well.

    In case anyone's curious, I realized the issue: these are the Beatles' 2009 remasters...in mono. Less data.
