    DSP Effects R7 Beta

    Changes:

New Effect: Folder.jpg Preserve to copy folder.jpg or associated files to destination folder
Multi-CPU Force supports 16 CPUs (requires Music Converter R14)
HDCD new option (default on) to apply +6DB amplification (to place the 20bit HDCD result in the upper 24 bits)
Audio CD - Remove Gaps - Requires latest R14 to remove gaps based on indexes.

Bug Fix: Capitalization of ID Tags (Smart or forced lower case except first) was getting a multi-composer, etc wrong.
Bug Fix: Resample could crash when converting without changing sample rate
Bug Fix: Write Metadata DSP Effect would give errors if the source was a CD disc

        Re: DSP Effects R7 Beta

I noticed one can apply this new HDCD option via dMC to previous rips (I ran mp3 lame on a mp3 file from a previous rip to get a new file to write). Would it beneficial to apply this option to previous rips that had HDCD detected, or is this only meaningful if performed during a rip? thanks!

Used HDCD +6DB amplification ripping flac and the volume was jumping up and down wildly.

          Using dbpoweramp Beta R14.
WinAMP for playback with filters off.
          Win7 Alt 64bit.
HDCD: Cars -Heartbeat City (Audio Fidelity Gold CD).

If you do not use the +6dB option does the file sound ok? (if you turn the volume up)?

The amplification is a fixed amplification, so should not vary in volume.

After HDCD has been expanded this +6dB option would not work.

                Re: DSP Effects R7 Beta

Re-ripped using multi-encoder to create a flac and mp3 with the new HDCD DSP, can confirm the flac copy is at 24 bits (via the "sample size" column in Batch Converter), but the mp3 copy shows only 16 bits in the "sample size" column.

Shouldn't the "sample size" show 24 bits for the mp3 files if HDCD was decoded for these mp3 files? HDCD was shown as detected in the "track technical" column for all tracks while ripping. If it should show 24 bits for the mp3's, any idea what happened, and if not, how else can I tell if HDCD was decoded for the mp3's?

edit: Hmmm, somethings was applied to the mp3's as well as the flac's - the volume of both fluctuate and with slight popping about every half second. Played flac on foobar, mp3 on iTunes.

It's bouncing up and down. When I uncheck the +6db option everything is fine.

Fix to the HDCD +6dB amplification, which cased volume fluctuations.

                      100% working for me.

The only downside is CDs with mixed 24bit & 16bit content. The 24bit material will be louder than the 16bit recordings.
Unfortunately, The Doors: Perception Box Set [2006] has such mixed content.

                        New Effect:

                        Audio CD - Remove Gaps

Requires latest R14 to remove gaps based on indexes.

This bug was fixed when the first R7 Beta was released but the last update has introduced a different issue. I have smart capitalization DSP effect selected but all text strings are ignored (Album Artist, Artist, Title, Composer, Album, Genre) The tags are written as they appear from the initial metadata retrieval (mixed caps, lowercase first letter, etc.).

                              3527,

                              Try this:

Have an audio file (such as mp3), remove all tags. Then add an artist tag:

                              artist the now very long

Click ok, then convert >> mp3 (give a different filename), add the DSP ID Tag Processing with smart-capitalize enabled, convert and you should see the file end up with a tag of:

                              Artist the now Very Long

                              Does this happen?
