Thread: WMA Lossless to FLAC - 'Rating' tag going wonky

WMA Lossless to FLAC - 'Rating' tag going wonky

    Hi folks,

The custom 'Rating' tag I have I have on the existing WMA Lossless files isn't being carried over correctly - it's being written into the created FLAC files as half of the original value (I.E. if the original rating was 5 then the FLAC has 2.5).

    Any thoughts as to why?

    V

It is down to there being no standard for Rating for flac.

A possible fix, with a bit of work: have a look at www.mp3tag.de/en - it's a free tagger, which can do all manner of clever tagging things.

e.g. you could set up an "action" to convert all your flacs at once (take a backup first!) which tells it to replace of flac rating tags with value of 2.5 with 5 and so on. Their forums are good if you need help.

Thanks for the replies. I use mp3tag a lot, so it's not a big problem to reformat the field, it just seemed a bit bizarre that the values were being halved!

    Again, many thanks.
