Problem with Ogg tags & album cover

    Dear users
I seem to have a problem when I rip ogg's.
The same thing happens whether I rip straight from CD or convert from fully tagged FLAC.
The ogg files don't have any tags upon completion of the rip.

Pardon if this is basic - searching the forums I haven't found the solution.

Also, tagging in MP3TAG does create a tag, but not one 'seen' by DBPA or my Cowon S9.

    Why can't tag Oggs?
    Cheers
    Noob

Right click on a dBpoweramp ripped ogg >> Edit ID Tag, does it show tags?

Yes Sir, it does. I have tried to edit tags this way, but it says "Unable to write ID Tags for G:\filepath\example.ogg"

Incidentally, I'm using an out of date version I think...13.1?
      I have XP.

      Thanks.
Can try to capture screen shots if helpful.

Something has locked the file (perhaps it is playing?) so it cannot be written.

Ah...no Sir, I wish it was that obvious, but alas no, I wasn't playing the file while simultaneously trying to edit it. Unless something else can lock it?

I've tried three different ways with different files and CDs
          1) Ripping ogg from CD with dbpa
          2) Converting ogg from fully tagged FLAC with dbpa
          3) Tagging ogg with MP3Tag

Trying (3) does tag the ogg so that it can be seen with MP3Tag, but the tag created is invisible to dbpa and my Cowon S9.

Any suggestions to trial or settings to check would be greatly appreciated.
          Cheers

A virus checker could block the file.

              Definitely no virus checker running.
              Any other suggestions?
(will try to post some screen-grabs)

Make sure you have installed the Standard dbpoweramp Ogg encoder and decoder as that writes the tags.

Ok, thanks, will try to reinstall that.
Here are the screen grabs finally:
                  1) Missing tag

                  2) Blank 'sheet'

                  3) Error message

Try converting that ogg file to something else, seems to me the standard ogg libararies might think it is corrupted.

Right, reinstalled the codec (it was up to date).

Converted to ogg from tagged FLAC.
                      No tags

                      Converted that to LAME MP3.
                      No tags

Does this tell you anything Spoon?

Was the audio written to the other file (flac) of the correct length?

                          Johnny Cash, Cry Cry Cry
                          Flac (2min 23sec) --> ogg (2 min 23 sec) --> mp3 (2 min 22 sec)

FYI just loaded ogg encoder for winamp.
                            Converted tagged FLAC again.
Tag was invisible to dbpoweramp but visible with mp3tag.
But still also invisible to Cowon S9.

                            Very puzzled!

You might be writing the wrong type of tags? they should be vorbis comments in flac and ogg vorbis.
