    Re: Asset UPnP v3 Discussions

    Issue with metadata display when using playlists.

    On my player (WD TV Live Plus), the following shows up when a song is playing from a playlist (generated by MediaMonkey):

    [AlbumArt] -> shows correctly
    [Title] -> shows up as [Artist] - [Title]
    [Album] -> nothing
    [Artist ] -> nothing
    [Genre] -> show up as "unknown"

    p.s. I really like your product - just trying to be "helpful"

      Re: Asset UPnP v3 Discussions

      Just upgraded to the latest Asset UPnP 3 beta for Windows Home Server. Getting better and better. Tested out well on both Xbox 360 and PS3. Two things I noticed:
      • Fast forward and rewind behave oddly on PS3. If you hit the fast forward button, it always starts back at the beginning of the song. Let's say you start a song and listen to it for a minute. If you hit the fast forward button, it starts you back at the beginning of the song so you may actually fast forward and end up somewhere earlier in the song. I didn't try this on Xbox 360, but IIRC Xbox 360 doesn't support FF/RW over DLNA.
      • Playlists continue to baffle me. I have four .m3u playlists that point to several .m4a tracks (my music is mostly Apple Lossless and AAC) but the PS3 only shows "Unsupported Data" where there should be the list of playlists. I'm not sure if my playlists are formatted wrong or if the PS3 doesn't support playlists (it did in Asset 2.x) or if it's just a feature that's not done in Asset 3 yet. Anyone with a working playlist on Windows Home Server, can you share a couple of lines so I can see what it should look like?

      Otherwise, it's really rockin'. Great work.

        Re: Asset UPnP v3 Discussions

        I've just registered to post a bug report :(

        I've configured my 'tree' to have:

        Album Artist
        Album
        Artist
        Album

        Both of these are set with A to Z tickboxes ticked, and the No Track Listing tickbox ticked for the Album Artist/ Artist elements of the tree.

        For both, I noticed that the "X" section had what seemed to be every single album in my collection in it. After blowing away the database directory, and completely re-starting, the problem remained.

        This behaviour was observed with a library of (exclusively) flac files, using Linn KinskyPDA 3.3.7 and Kinsky Desktop 3.3.13.

        Then it occurred to me that there couldn't be many artists, or album artists beginning with "X". I, indeed, have, or had, none!

        So I created a single FLAC of silence and set the tags for the artist and album artist to be X-Silence, put it in the music directory and forced a re-scan. Result, "X" is now empty apart from this single artist/album artist -exactly as you'd expect.

        From this it would seem that there's an issue with the alphabetical divisions...
        Any chance of this being investigated/fixed before release?

        If you need any further clarification/screenshots - please ask!

        Many thanks,

        Toby.

          Re: Asset UPnP v3 Discussions

          Hi

          I have found an issue!

          I am using Asset UPnP with an Onkyo TX-NR807.

          With v3 I get "Operation Not Supported" when trying to pause or seek FLAC files. With v2.1 I can pause and seek FLAC files with no problems.

          Thanks

          Guy

            Does the Onkyo play FLAC native? or is it transcoded?

            @Grenadier thanks for the report.

              It plays FLAC natively

                Re: Asset UPnP v3 Discussions

                If you could be so kind to switch on the debug log and playback a file with both Asset v3 and v2, I am sure we will get to the bottom of this. There is a bug in the current beta which means the size is reported wrong for transcoded files (at the browse stage), the Onkyo might be choosing a WAV or LPCM stream that asset offers. The next beta will solve this bug.

                  Hi Spoon

                  I'll post the debug logs later today.

                  Thanks

                    Hi,

                    with this new beta, Kinsky-Desktop does not show the technical information anymore. I seem to remember, they were still there yesterday.

                    Is this a problem of Asset or a problem of Kinsky?

                        I've just Updated my WHS from 2.1.4 to 3.0beta. With 2.1.4 I had no Problems with my New 24/96 flac's on my Home Server. Since i had installed 3.0 beta i copied Three 24/96 flac's on my WHS. Each of One is Not recognized by upnp 3.0beta. My parallel Running Twony does ...

                          It is probably not set to automatically scan, try the WHS >> Settings >> Asset >> Scan (detecting changes)

                              It works for me (just tested) in the version of Asset I am about to upload (couple of days at most), this version should be close to the final version.

                                Hi,
                                I tried it again, and now it works too. It seems to have a will of it's own.

                                Thanks anyway.
