    Re: Asset Control Discussions

    Hi,
here would be my suggestions for improvement (browse by folder/file):

    1. A minimize button
    2. A click should not add a file to the playlist, a dblclick should do that. Because I would
like to select more than 1 item in the left list (explorer-like with shift and ctrl), and send
all selected files to the playlist.
    3. I would like to see the windows-startbar at the bottom, always! And if I don't want to
see it, I would configure it, instead of Asset Control.
    4. Show the correct items in the playlist created by other programs, like KinskyDesktop. It
would make it easier to switch to AssetControl.

(2 and 3 per option, for others may want it another way).

Another thing is the basic idea: How to browse at all.
The old way, with CDs it was like this:
    My CDs are sorted :
    Classical/Non-Classical

Classical; In the next level, by composer,
then by workgroup (eg. Sinfonies) or by work (op. 80),
then by Conductor (including year of the recording)
and at last the music itself.

    Non-Classical
    different criteria,
like in Pop from A to Z by Artist, then by album
Soundtracks by the name of the film (= album), not by the artist
    Music-to-schmuse-by by Genre
    and so on.

This can only be done by arranging the files in folders, and by browsing
    by folders.
Browsing by artist, album artist, album, compilation, etc. will not work.
This is also, why a lot of people have a lot of problems, just look at what the
people write in the forums for asset, twonky, linn etc.
So I think, browsing by folder, which seems to be mainly a server problem,
has to be solved in the best way, and Asset Server and Asset Control have to
give the best support for this.

    Greetings from Bavaria,
    J.

    Bug Report

    Spoon,
in main window and the playlist on the right side there are on top and on button arrows for scrolling.

Those in the main window works. In the playlist window the upper arrow works, lower did not.

    Spoon,
    Joe Broesel is right.

In the folder view it would be very nice to see not only the folders but also the cover art inside this folder and in its childs.
So navigating down the folderns, first a lot of album art can be seen. The deeper I go the number of album covers decreases...

I think such browsing by quality is not best suited to control panels, rather you are best to use a tool on a PC to manage your library.

    Hi Spoon,

I sent a trace of the Onkyo TX-NR807 with the most recent version of Control more than a week ago. Have you had a chance yet to have a look at this trace? Is there any other data I could provide to help resolve this issue?

I see that the return from GetProtocolInfo does not include FLAC. I've also tried WMA lossless files without success. The Onkyo does support FLAC and receives and plays FLAC files served by the Asset Server just fine. WMC in Win 7 can "Play To" to the Onkyo just fine as long as its a WMA or WAV file.

    Hi Spoon,

Yes, the DLNA rendering devices on the network are Audio DMP and TV.

    Re: Asset Control Discussions

Asset Control does find my library but doesnīt find my player.

Iīm able to adress and find the player in the network by IP adress (same subnet as library)

The player/library work fine together when controlled by my Iphone (plugplayer) or with my other computer.
I suspect itīs an issue in the configuration of this laptop, but i run out of ideas.

    Any suggestions?

    @Charly

The Onkyo does not advertise the FLAC support which is a bug on the Onkyo, but it does advertise LPCM, the next update to asset control will allow LPCM to be used on such players.

fbee - what is your player please?

    Re: Asset Control Discussions

Hi Spoon - The Onkyo does advertise that it supports WMA lossless (WMALSL), but that format also does not play using Asset Control. I'm trying redbook CDs ripped to WMA lossless.

Is it possible for a DLNA control point to cause a DMR to stream a FLAC file? FLAC is not an optional or required DLNA format.

    Re: Asset Control Discussions

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with Asset UPNP v3 05 June version, Asset Control and uplayer.

I can launch uplayer and then from CLI, I can play flac tracks on the hard disk no problem.

The same flac tracks are part of the Asset UPNP library and appear in Asset Control and if uplayer is running, Asset Control can play the tracks. However, all tracks play back are wrong speed. They playback too fast.

    Any ideas?

@fbee - I think there is an option in Linn Config to disable the upnpav which should not be disabled at this stage.

@Charly - WMA should be supported yes, even though FLAC is not part of the DLNA spec, it should be advertised as audio/x-flac and the control point would know it is supported.

@mville - what frequency are your FLAC files? and you have no option set to stream flac as say lpcm?
