Question ALAC problems on iPhone 3G v3.1.2

I am having some issues with FLAC files converted to ALAC with dMC. I get skipping and silent spots. These same files play fine with foobar, WinAMP, and iTunes.

What is the basis of the ALAC encoder dMC uses? i.e. is it based upon an opensource encoder? I see that there are AAC encoder/decoder codecs from Ahead, but there is also an Apple Lossless encoder .dll and an m4a decoder .dll.

Why can't Apple give up and just use FLAC? :vmad:

Is a normal 16 bit FLAC file?

The ALAC encoder is not open source.

Yeah, it's a standard 16-bit FLAC file. I could send you both the source FLAC and the resulting ALAC if you like. :D

I posted an image of the stats of one of the FLAC files which converted with silent spots:

Previously the ipod would silence out audio if the cpu was not fast enough to decode mp3 (such as lame), I wonder if the same is happening here, although it should not as ALAC has little CPU requirements.
