    [IFCOMP] not honored in dMC

I ripped a compilation CD to FLAC with the compilation switch turned on using this naming string:

    [IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[][][IF!COMP][artist][]\[album]\track [track]

The compilation tag in the resulting FLAC file is set to "true" and the track files are named with "artist" (taking the [IFCOMP] side).

If I take this FLAC file and convert it with dMC to MP3 using exactly the same naming string, it does not take the [IFCOMP] exit but uses [IF!COMP]. The resulting MP3 files still carry is compilation tag.

    Bug or feature?

So the Compilation tag is on the FLAC files and is set to 1?

The tag is in the FLAC files. The explorer-plugin shows its value as "true".

Re: [IFCOMP] not honored in dMC

Your question made me look a little further. In fact, dbPA puts the value "true" in the "COMPILATION" tag. If I change that manually to "1", dMC now uses the "[IFCOMP]" side of my naming macro.

The "true" value flag is carried forward into the MP3 tags as "true", too. That makes iTunes not consider this track as part of a compilation. If I set the flag on the MP3 file to "1", iTunes now correctly displays this track as part of a compilation.

So how do I get the (correct?) value of "1" in the FLAC files automatically? I'm on R13.3 (RC).

You ripped the CD with dMC?

Schmock, I ripped it with the CD Ripper, of course. R13.3 RC.

I posted this thread to the dMC stream because I thought it would be a dMC problem in the first place.
