Dual core CPU - why no 2 pass encoding?

SSIA really. Just migrated from a dual core X86 XP machine to a dual core X64 Vista machine. Conversions almost all flac to lossless WMA. XP machine offers me the option of 2 pass encoding, the Vista machine doesn't.

Why? I had expected it would!

Lossless WMA has never had 2 pass encoding AFAIK, only lossy WMA.

Wrong. Worked fine on my dual core XP machine, from which I have just migrated

Crossed wires? Mea culpa; what I meant was "concurrent" encoding. On my dual core XP machine, the option was enabled, and worked really well. On this new 64 bit Vista mahine, the option is disabled.

WMA Professional does however offer it. Is that also lossless? (and if not, why "professional"?)

        Cheers

Concurrent encoding is not codec specific, check the registered status of dBpoweramp, it should say Reference Registered (in dBpoweramp Configuration), as this is required for multi-cpu encoding.

Ahah. So I had the reference version on the old machine, better grab that again.

            Cheers!
