    Japanese CD ripping and fonts

When I am ripping Japanese CDs, in many cases all I get is a square box placeholder for a letter such as "青 " in song titles and artist names as ripped by the latest version of the CD ripper.

Is there anything I can or should do about this?

    Install a font pack?

    I'm running Win XP SP3.

    Thanks.

It is likely the database has the tag in non-unicode, so setting the local code base to japanese might display correctly.

It is a system wide setting, you set your windows in control panel >> Locale to Japanese

Wouldn't everything on my system become unintelligible since I don't know Japanese?

          Thanks anyway.

use mp3tag to convert the codepage for those ID3v2 tags to Unicode UTF-16.
