...straight into beta of a new Asset (so much to do...so little time).

This new beta features internet radio (Asset will read the WMA streams and give out as wave/lpcm or mp3). The features of internet radio & mp3 encoding will move to a paid release version of Asset. This beta software is time limited to the end of this year.

    Changes:

Last update 29th September Release Candidate 2

Added Internet Radio (in Asset Configuration >> Advanced >> Edit >> Restore the browse tree to add internet radio).
    compatible with denon systems
keeps a static port address, this allows items in a play list to be kept through restarts of Asset
When updating tags keeps the track ID the same (allows an item stored in playlist to remain)
album art handled much more efficiently - only one saved per album, also single art url given out for control points (will speed up a track listing where all album arts are the same)
Internal Tag reader will self quit when main program terminated
Automatic 'drilling down' to next level, for example have tree as Artist (no listing) >> A to Z >> D, previously A to Z would have to be selected, no it does not
fixed installer issue on WHS where would say cannot run dbconfig.exe
    added mp3 encoding option
added a debug option which creates a debug-log.txt file
Will now ignore files starting with '._' (which Apple MACs can create as 2nd files containing extra finder data)
New option (on by default) to replace 'The Artist' with 'Artist, the' [** requires library rescanning - refresh all]
New option (off by default) to remove 'the ' from album name also
New option (on by default) to place the disc number before track number on multi disc sets (for those discs where disc 2 has the same album name as disc 1)
New option for Asset not to perform a Reresh (detecting changes) scan on start
Internally caches the listings, so if back-tracking when browsing will be much faster
New Status Line (of scanning engine and how many tracks) added to Asset Config (or Asset Settings page in WHS)
    Uses a fixed UDN ID
Playlists added (dynamic: newest, most played, least played and static playlists .m3u, .m3u8 and .pls) (in Asset Configuration >> Advanced >> Edit >> Restore the browse tree to add Playlists).
If removed a folder (from media library watched folder, but tracks are left) then tracks are not removed asset
Added option to browse by files/folders (have to add the tree item Folders & File Browse in Asset Configuration)
Added Asset Image (for control points which can show a little icon next to the
migrated to new v2 database and album art store (v1 is removed)
Added UserName option with RadioTime, so can store presets (from www.radiotime.com) and have them appear in My Presets (WMA streams only currently)
Internet Radio returns for UPnP Class 'object.item.audioItem.audioBroadcast'
URLs inside m3u are passed out as is
Sonos support (FLAC) added once more
    mp2 return not application/octletstream rather audio/mpeg
PS3 - once again better support (no stopping at end of stream when streaming to wave, no network errors when playing mp3)
Splt install into 3 (all with WMA Decoder for Radio Streaming)
    Added additional Playlist items:
Jukebox Track Selection - randomly selects 100 tracks based on rating (5 star rated items are played more than 1 star)
    Previously Played Tracks
PS3 - no longer cutting short mp3 tracks with a large album art
When browsing by albums, was returning Album Art of "" when there was none
Folder & file Browsing - the folders are exposed as a SotrageContainer so can be added in one go to a playlist
All audio items returned as object.item.audioItem (previously could return as object.item if unknown audio type)
    Roku can playback playlist tracks
for windows install, asset run options -
    Runs Locally (default)
    As a Service
    Disabled
25 second delay in startup of asset if run from service as network might not have come up
Asset + port added to windows firewall (all os)
internet radio, dynamic playlists and file system browsing are restricted to 'Asset Premium' version (which will require registration for $26, note any RipNAS install is automatically registered), 'Asset Premium' trial activated on install for 30 days (full release will be within 30 days). ** Note the registration pages are not active **

bug fix: ps3 and streaming would play the track too short: bitrates were off (and PS3 uses these)
bug fix: would close asset when a user was logged off (even though asset was running as a service)
bug fix: tag reader could leave the file open
bug fix: could return restricted for metadata browse on an item
bug fix: if set the force to mp3 (but had not extensions forced), then would not save as mp3 selected (internet radio uses)
    bug fix: multiple styles browsable
bug fix: certain vbr codecs such as mp3 where the exact length cannot be pre-determined, asset will pad transcoded stream with 0000s to fill stream to reported length

Updating Software (from Asset 1.1 or previous beta): Uninstall Asset, install new, restart machine, trigger database rescan (refresh all)

    <now released>

Still does not work with Yamaha RX-V3900.

Server shows in available list - no content when selected.

Also does not work with Yamaha RX-V3800. Just confirmed. In my case, even the server does not show in the available list.

Any update on the Yamaha issue? I've confirmed TVersity does not work as well. I'm in the process of updating the Yamaha FW to a March 09 release but have little hope this will address my problem. If it does, I'll report back.

I'd also be happy to beta any releases or provide any diagnostic info that is needed.

Without a Yamaha it is difficult to debug these things...

PVConnect and WMC can both see the Yamaha. Those servers do not transcode lossless WMA on-the-fly that Asset does. The Asset is running correctly on my WHS because I can now stream those same files to my PS3.

I'd be happy to install any diag tools to get you the information you need to see where the handshaking is tripping up.

Re: Asset UPnP (DLNA) Release 2

I'm afraid the problem with resuming from hibernation mentioned in http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=18834 is still present in 2.0.0.1 beta. Waking the XP machine after a couple of hours asleep makes the problem recur. I've worked around it with a script to restart Asset as required, so it's not critical.

If it sheds any light, I've also discovered that if I boot and then immediately log on to my account I get the same behaviour. Asset is there, but doesn't show up in my Sonos controllers. If I boot but wait a while before logging on then Asset appears as expected.

Are you sure the computer has the same IP address after resuming?

It's not explicitly set to static (some VPN stuff insisted on DHCP for some reason), but yes it remains stuck at 192.168.1.72.

    Spoon -

Is it possible for you to specify a build number in your beta release notes up top?

    Thanks in advance,

Re: Asset UPnP (DLNA) Release 2

    Hi,

I am having some odd problems with Asset on a WHS system and was hoping you could help. I am using the latest beta (1.9.9) hence posting in this thread.

    1. If I stream a MP3 to either my PC (which is running Foobar with a UPNP browser) or to my PS3 then the music will stop approx. a third of the way through the track. It is quite consistent & happens with all my MP3 files. In the case of Foobar, the current track just stops playing and it moves onto the next track. In the case of the PS3, it pauses for a bit & shows a network error code & then continues on.

    2. If I stream a FLAC to my PC then it plays fine all the way through.

    3. If enable Media sharing on my WHS server, the same MP3 files play just fine on my PC / PS3. Likewise, if I play the files directly (ie. not using Asset or Media sharing) then they play fine.

    4. When I install Asset (and I have tried several times now) I always get an error - "Error whilst running - c:\program files\Illustrate\dbPowerAmp\dbconfig.exe" - the file doesn't exist (I checked) - is something missing from the installation?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Simon

    4. is a false error.

    1. is the mp3 being streamed as WAVE or left as mp3?
