    Wishlist: Full featured Tag-Editor

    Hi

    this would be something ranking highly on my personal wishlist - a full featured dbpoweramp Tag-Editor as a standalone application, that provides the great quality of the other illustrate software AND overcomes the downsides of so many other tag-editors, especially in the flac-domain... Combined with features such as professional meta-data lookup that would be the "swiss knife" ;-)

    hmm I am just curious what's wrong/what downsides are there with mp3tag with flac?

      It would be nice if we could have a more powerful tag DSP, something that would take regular expression or conditional tag changes.

      set genre on condition, psuedocode:
      if(title =~ /christmas|xmas|santa\s*clause/i) {
      genre = "Christmas"
      }

      text removal or substitution, psuedocode:
      title =~ s/\[?bonus[-\s]*track\]//

        For such advanced stuff you are best knocking something simple together in Visual Basic.NET:

        and use the tag reading / writing of the com object.

          Is there a way to invoke a script from RipNAS though?

            You could add it to a Scheduled task to run once a day.

              Re: Wishlist: Tag-Editor - Album Artist Tag

              I just set up a WHS with Slim Devices software. All my 500 CDs were previously ripped and tagged with dbpoweramp reference. I included "artist" tags on all CDs, and "album artist" on most.

              After getting SqueezeCenter up and running I discovered that many of my "artist" or "album artist" tags aren't properly catalogued in the Slim Devices user interface.

              Without going into details, it turns out that: (a) there isn't a standard format for the "album artist" tag; (b) Apparently, SqueezeCenter reads the tag as as "%albumartist%", while the included tag editor in dbPowerAmp formats the tag differently: - as "%album aritst%".

              Unfortunately, SC didn't recognize the %album artist% tag written by dbpoweramp. In order to get music catalogued as I wished in SC, I had to retag all the material with the "mp3tag program", after I'd added a tag there called "%albumartist%".

              Wish: include the %albumartist% format in your tagger, so users can add it if they wish.

              My understanding from reading various forums is that this problem also occurs between the dbpoweramp tagger and some other music server units. No one's fault, just due to a lack of standards, apparently.

              Thanks

                In my settings, the standard in dbpoweramp for 'album artist' is 'albumartist' (one word). maybe you should check your configuration settings.

                You can probably retag with the DSP action to edit tags.

                  Install [ID Tag Update] and the latest FLAC codec, then convert all your FLAC files to ID Tag Update using Batch Converter. This will fix the issue.

                    That would be really cool if the next release of dBpoweramp had a standalone program for editing id tags.

                      ID tag and album art editor... something like Media Monkey but with access to the better metadata that dbpoweramp provides.

                        Re: Wishlist: Full featured Tag-Editor

                        I really need a stand alone full featured ID2 &/or 3 Tag Editor to go with dBpower without having to use another program to do this.
                        I'm currently using Zortam mp3 media studio to add lyrics.

                        The tag editor on Window shell is so basic.

                        Also if this Tag Editor can edit other media file types would be great too [mp4, etc]

                          Any chance you can allow access to internet meta-data sources via scripting too? Basically, I've been dying for direct and complete access to the allmusic.com database for my tagging needs. That along with the already present support for reading/writing tags would be the holy grail for me.

                          Thanks!

                            Our access license would not allow that.

                              Any chance or possibility for a change or upgrade option in license?
                              Perhaps some kind of AMG + subscription? I would be very very willing to pay extra for this kind of access.
