    After encoding verify written audio

Hi, I rip all my cds in flac (compression level 8) in secure mode & accurate rip and clear read cache with fua & c2 errors pointers.

For the moment the case : "After encoding verify written audio" is unchecked

I would to know if it is necessary to verify written audio after encoding or not

    Thanks for help

It verifies that the encoding to flac files was done properly. Turn it on, it slows things down a bit but it's just another accuracy check that will give you peace of mind.

I don't notice any difference when checking the Verify box when ripping to FLAC.

It doesn't appear to do anything.

And I don't even see a Verify check box for LAME (MP3).

Lossy codecs cannot be verified as the data stored is not exact 1:1 of the source.

When exactly does it decompress the flac file and verify the written audio. I' ve used it with and without and haven't noticed a difference time wise. I assume it would then have to compress the file back to flac, which would involve additional time. I'm just not seeing how it could be doing this and not taking any longer to rip than w/o the box checked.

At the end of writing, it would only take about 2 seconds.

Two seconds to decompress and compare is incredibly fast; is this per track or for a typical CD? Can you please explain the the mechanism used to verify the written audio - MD5 Checksum? Also, how does one know whether the written audio has actually been verified? As far as I can see there is no confirmation and nothing is written to the log file, is there an option to turn confirmation on.

    Thanks.

Per track. MD5 checksum. There is only a log if verification fails.

So spoon if i converted WAV files to flac without the verify button, i can still verify it with the original wav files and flac files with the CRC Calculation right ?
So its basicly the same as the verify option correct?
Just calculate CRC from Flac and original WAV and if everything is the same its also been verified or does that verify does something else to ?

Yes. Also the flac files have an inbuilt CRC so once you are sure they are correct, convert the FLAC files to Test conversion, any errors would show at the end.

    Bonjour,

Now if we use Perfect Tunes to verify the ripped files, is it always necessary to check the case "After Encoding Verify Written Audio" or not ?
