If you check the box in the Meta Data & ID Tag Options for ISRC, it should be written to tags if it is retrieved.

Unless PerfectMeta is being used, then it gets missed out (usually). See
Spoon's note in the beta thread.

        Bug, it seems:

        (1) Some metadata shows up from the sources. Say, AMG has one release and Freedb has another.

        (2) AMG has Composer, Freedb has not

        (3) Alt-m, choose Freedb

        (4) Remove Composer (still in the PerfectMeta window)

        And here it comes:

        (5) Composer is still there when I return to the CD Ripper window.

To be expected, changes only replace fields, they will not delete them.

To wishlist: I would prefer to be able to change a string from "foo" to "bar" or even to "".

For this case, and also for cases where none of the metadata sources relate to my release (not misspelling, but different CD), I could also use "delete all" button in the PerfectMeta window. Wishlist item.

              Re: PerfectMeta Discussion

I am having a big problem with PerfectMeta in that it quite often does not come up at all when I press Alt-M. Yet, I can pull info from individual databases by using Retrieve from. Am I doing something wrong (I am using Vista)?

A desideratum would be that if you are pulling info from the web on a multiple disc set, the program should consistently use the same database for all discs. Now I find that I sometimes end up with completely different sets of data for different discs (of course the tracks are different but databases use different tagging systems).

Not patient enough. It seems to me that it will not respond to Alt-m before it has contacted -- or given up on -- all sources.

You may well be right. I shall experiment a little more.

                    Re: PerfectMeta Discussion

Sorry if this is a "newbee" question... but I was wondering if you can use dbPoweramp's PerfectMeta to tag files AFTER you've ripped elsewhere. I have 800+ CDs that I've ripped using EAC, but the tags are very suspect and would like to find a software tool to "fix" the tags, add album art, etc.

I've done quite a bit of research online, many folks suggest Mp3tag. The PerfectMeta solution seems great, but I'm not sure if it can be used "post rip"?

Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.

No, you can only use PerfectMeta or any metadata providers when dMC is ripping the CDs.

Spoon, would the meta-data licenses allow the software to write the meta-data from each provider to a txt file in the ripped album directory. This is not caching or storing the meta data in your software and not really different from writing it as meta-data in the file, but would make it easier to edit the meta tags of ripped files more easily in the future.

                          Yes I think it would.

That would be fantastic - consider it a feature request ;-)

That is creating a text file in the album directory containing the separate meta-data from each providor.

                            Thank you!

Spoon, will R14 bring any advances in PerfectMeta? Specifically hoping for:

                              - more user control to change rules, add sources, etc

                              - better detection of multiple artist, with fewer false detections

                              - consistent artist naming, checking against artist names in users library and MusicBrainz alt artist names

                              - add more sources, such as discogs

                              - better formatting and matching of data between sources

                              - more features, such as viewing entire meta-data in a field by hovering mouse over field

                              - database of user submitted changes (not data from other sources)

                              - spell checker

                              - save all versions of album art from premium sources

                              - ability to select between various album art sources

                              - button to search web for album art
