error message converting wav to MP3

I am trying to convert a wav audio file recorded on my ipod via Griffin iTalk Pro to MP3 format so I can burn it to CD. The recording is of a meeting (ie 2 people talking so mono is fine) and 17 mins long. I want to be able to record meetings of up to 1.5 hours and convert them to burn to CD (ipod will only record in wav).

I am getting the following error message:

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'C:\Documents and Settings\Caroline Moroz\Desktop\Halyna Test.wav' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\Caroline Moroz\Desktop\converted recordings\Halyna Test.mp3'
Error Chunk is out of file. [clRIFFHandler::ScanFile]


Can anyone please advise what any of this means and how I fix it?

Words of few syllables and laymen terms if possible, please! Many thanks.

The wave file is corrupted.

Can the file be played back on the ipod?
Can the wav file be played on a pc in, say, Windows Media Player?

I am having the same problem, only I am trying to convert an m4a to mp3. The file plays in itunes okay, and it is a direct rip from a CD. I'm trying to upload it to imeem, but I get that same error message when I try to convert. I might just have to re-rip the CD, but I'd like to avoid it. Someone please help?

I've only tried it in itunes, and that works
