Auto import into iTunes?
Hi folks. I'm a new user of dBpwerAMP, and I have to say it's a great program! I'm also a new user of iTunes, which is the subject of my question. I realize this is not an iTunes support forum, but I bet there are many iTunes power users among the posters here.
I am using dbpa to rip my CD's to FLAC, and then converting them to MP3 using dbPowerAmp batch converter with the LAME encoder. Then I import each folder of MP3 files (from a single CD) into iTunes manually. This will take a lot of time as I have about 1300 CD's to rip.
Is there any way to automate the import into iTunes? Can iTunes scan an entire directory structure (like it did when I first installed it) and import only the songs that are NOT already in the library? I don't want to end up with a lot of duplicate songs in iTunes. Are there any 3rd party apps or scripts that will do this?
And now for the Holy Grail question: Any chance that that dBPowerAMP batch converter could be made to do this directly?

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
You might want to check out the iTunes Library Updater, here:
http://itlu.ownz.ch/wordpress/
It can be scripted to run from the command line, so you might be able to tie it into a rip/conversion using the "run external" dsp.
I haven't used itlu in awhile, as I have been able to almost eliminate iTunes from my life , but the last time I did, it worked fine with iTunes (7.1 I believe).

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
Can I ask, if you have an Ipod is it possible to eliminate the use of iTunes. I can't stand it and am new to this game and as such looking at alternatives and options.

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
I have an iPod and use Sveta to move music to my iPod. I have one computer with iTunes installed that I sync with every now and then just to get any updates to my iPod, if there are any.

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
I'll have a look at that. I heard Sveta is related to dBpowerAMP. I am using 'Reference'. Is it part of that or a plug in?

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
Sveta is separate from Reference. It does use dMC for conversion purposes, but right now it requires dMC r11.5, so follow the instuctions here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm

Re: Auto import into iTunes?
iTunes is a trashy program. It is probably sufficient if you have a small library. Since you are here you can't be relying on iTunes for everything. Have you tried dbpoweramp's player? Look around. I only use itunes for videos and that will be going away soon. I think it is slow, hard to impossible to do anything but the most simple and obvious tasks. It is also is designed to rip you off. I know some one who's ipod died bought a new ipod but itunes will not let her put the tunes that were on her lost ipod to the new one. Sweet!!! They just want her to buy them again. Apple and Microsoft treat their customers like live stock. Their to do with them as they like. Spend a couple of dollars and buy a real system. Most apps allow a demo version for at least 30 days.
