    'empty' media files

I've got an old Dell PC with an NEC SCSI CDROM drive. The CD drive works for all other purposes, if a bit slow (8 speed).

dmpoweramp seems to work and creates files of the right size etc (I've tried lame and blade mp3 and straight wav format). However, on playback the files have no audio conent at all.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Dan.

Try 'Audio CD Input' >> Options >> Advanced

    and try different Command Sets.

Nope, I've tried almost all of those Command sets and the old difference is the speed at which the CD appears to be ripping...

I'm quite happy to accept that there is something wrong with the drive rather than dbpoweramp, I just don't know how to prove it given that the drive works otherwise.

CDEX would be a good program to try, search for CDEX on www.google.com

          Thanks for your suggestions.

I've managed to get CDEX to rip from the drive (but it takes like half a day for a single CD!). Still it means I can leave that machine quietly ripping away in the background while I'm working

dbpoweramp is the better app though.

          Cheers Spoon,
