Can't convert .mp3 files at all!

I get this messege once I try yo convert a .mp3 file:
The CODEC required to decompress 'D:\...\***.mp3' could not be opened.

    i've checked, and I do have the mp3.dll file in C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Multiplayer\Input

so what the hell is wrong?
please help me! dbPowerAMP MC is the best converting software ever, I would hate to use another program...

What are trying to convert to (format, frequency, bits, channels, bitrate)?
Is this one file or many?
Can you tell us about the frequency, bitrate and channel settings (for a sample such file unless this is happening with all of your .mp3 files)?
Are these files playable? If so, with what player?
Did you create or purchase these (some purchased .mp3 downloads are copy-protected)?

      Best wishes,
      Bill

it happens with every .mp3 file I want to convert, doesn't matter to which format. I am able to play them on WMP and MPC.
I am sure that they are not protected.

Do the filenames have unicode (non english) characters?

Also, does the path of the file have any Unicode characters? If you move your files to a folder on your root directory (C:\) will it conver then?

Can you play all of these mp3 files?
Mabye you need to uninstall dMC fully and then reinstall dMC. See here for total uninstallation instructions: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6828
