Re: Problem converting FLAC to AAC

These m4a files that won't decode, where did they come from? Were they iTunes-purchased songs?

Some were iTunes, most had been encoded with dbc as m4a from flac or ogg or wmv files previously.

So the files that won't convert, you can still play them on players beside iTunes, right? I ask this because if you can't then the file is corrupt in some way. I remember that for a while if you unprotected an iTunes m4p track, it changed the extension but did NOT unprotect the file.

The files which won't convert are flac, ogg, mp3. They won't convert to m4a. the encoders won't convert them.

              Yup

Works. If I convert to mp3...it works.

Do any other file types convert to aac? it seems the problem is with aac.

Correct...using m4a aac or m4a itunes does not work.

Click the locate encoder button for m4a (aac) and point it to the encoder.

Encoder located but when I try and convert this wav file, I get the same error message.

The CODEC required to compress 'D:\My Documents\Duane Eddy.aac' could not be opened.
Unable to run encoder 'C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Compression\Advanced Audio Coding (CLI)\faac.exe'

                      Using the other encoder:

Unable to run encoder 'C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Compression\Apple Lossless (iTunes)\iTunesEncode.exe'

Here is the list of the encoders:

is the encoder in that folder? ie open explorer and paste into it:

                        C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Compression\Advanced Audio Coding (CLI)\

The .exe files are in the folders.

I was thinking of dropping the .exe files into the folder shown above...any suggestions?

And thanks Spoon for your efforts...it is appreciated.

Make sure your account that dbpoweramp is running under has administrator priviledges.

Will not do anything, try switching debug mode on:

                                enabling CLI debug might help:

                                open regedit, navigate to:
                                hkey_current_user/software/illustrate/dbpoweramp

                                add dword "CLIDebug"

set to 1 to turn it on
