  1. Re: CD-Ripper 16.6 Finds Metadata (Sometimes) and then (sometimes) discards it.

Hard to see how related, but I rip only to FLAC as well. The odd thing is that for a split second the metadata flashes up, but then disappears.
  2. Re: CD-Ripper 16.6 Finds Metadata (Sometimes) and then (sometimes) discards it.

I have been noticing the exact same problem, including using a 2nd step to acquire from cd text on newer CDs. I have ripped thousands of CDs, and only had this problem in the last year. Perhaps this...

Re: End of track echo... Is this a known bug?

I've never experienced this in thousands of rips or mp3 conversions. But have never used AIFF either.

Sticky: Re: CD Drive Accuracy 2019

I really don't know the answer to this (the drive or whether all USB connected drives don't work with C2). I've never looked at the list of top drives. I come from the approach, of "having several...

Sticky: Re: CD Drive Accuracy 2019

I suppose C2 working is better in that case, at least theoretically. Practically speaking I'm not sure how much it matters. I have 3 different drives. I'm away from my computer and not sure what...

Sticky: Re: CD Drive Accuracy 2019

As an experiment, try it with C2 errors unchecked. This is often the culprit, even on drives that supposedly support C2 error detection.
edit: and I've seen several cases where drives that support...
  8. Re: Digital destortion of tracks when ripping into 16/44 KHZ mono

safe to use default. that's what I used to rip Beatles Mono set.

Re: New member and basic ripping set up.

The short answer is that WMP can alter your metadata tags and artwork without your knowledge.
  10. Re: AccurateRip: Inaccurate (confidence 1) Secure: Yes [F7DF772B]

correct. Secure but does not match some other rip. The way AR works it is not because the other rip is insecure. But could be a different pressing. And only seems to be one to compare to. Not a...

Conversion is just as easy as reripping. Review the help info on conversion then post any questions you have.

Re: New member and basic ripping set up.

Do not rip twice. Just use the dbpa converter application to convert your flac files to mp3. And I would not let WMP touch my files. The program is turned off on all my windows computers. Look into...

Re: Volume Normalize and Trim Silence

    1. ReplayGain just writes the info to a tag to be used by a player. ReplayGain(apply) actually modifies the audio itself to change volume. One does not need a ReplayGain capable player in the second...

    Re: highest quality flac ripp

That is it! It does no harm for me to paint my toenails purple while I am ripping CDs. But this has about the same chance of improving sound quality as ripping to uncompressed FLAC.

    Re: Replay Gain model lost

Early on, the default RG in dbpa was -23 LUFS. That was too quiet for me too. I was using -18 instead (as it matched up well with the older ReplayGain model). dbpa later changed default to -18. ...

Re: Help with copy protected CD rip results

Your results suggest you likely did get a good rip. Secure or secure with "i" showing it had to reread some frames. I suspect if you play these files, they will not have any problems.

depends what kind of error. If secure, dbpa evidently got matching CRCs when it did multiple passes. Are you sure that the CD itself doesn't exhibit this same error when playing via your computer? A...

    Re: Novice with dumb question

PerfectTunes is not a player. Does your car player handle playing songs from a usb drive? Some do. Are you sure the files are on your usb drive. What “program” are you referring to as being...
  21. Re: Looking for advice on glacial, on/off reading pattern with secure ripping

You're welcome. And it can't hurt to flush the cache. As Spoon notes here, using the default 1024 size is always safe:

Drive Read Cache is important in making sure that previous ripped audio is...
  22. Re: Looking for advice on glacial, on/off reading pattern with secure ripping

But he doesn't advocate for it when the drive doesn't properly implement it. And he certainly doesn't argue that without C2, the AR match is not as good. The AR match is what it is. A match--and...
  23. Re: Looking for advice on glacial, on/off reading pattern with secure ripping

AccurateRip match is so much better test than C2 of a bit perfect rip. I have plenty of CDs I've ripped that did NOT get an AR match, but still ripped as "secure" and play fine (I don't hear any...
  24. Re: Looking for advice on glacial, on/off reading pattern with secure ripping

it's not that the first fails. If the first pass gets an AccurateRip match, then it doesn't need to do anything else. I'd say the one that found the accuraterip match is the good rip. The odds of...
  25. Re: Looking for advice on glacial, on/off reading pattern with secure ripping

As I suspected, with the first drive you had accuraterip matches, so it should have been as fast as burst with only the single pass (that's the correct way secure ripping with AccurateRip works). ...
