    Re: Converting issue

    This is in FILE EXPLORER.
See attached picture. When you are on the title bar (anywhere on that row), right click and you should get a menu to select attributes you want columns for. I can't take...

    Re: Converting issue

When you right click on the columns top row (that has items like title, artist, etc.), you should get a dropdown menu that has a listing of various tag items that you can check. the checked items...

    Re: Converting issue

There is a way associate file types with different file icons in windows as well. Sorry I can't recall the instructions on how to do this. In my own case, when I installed the foobar2000 music...
  5. Re: Abbey Road Super Deluxe Edition ripping errors

I ripped the Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Edition (2 CD) with no issues and all tracks have matches back to ACCURATERIP database. This version is:...

Re: Applying replaygain vs volume normalisation

You can't. To apply the gain, the audio will have to be re-written. Applying the gain to lossless files will also make those no longer lossless. Best approach if one needs files with RG gain applied...
  7. Re: Files in iTunes are keeping their library names & not using the altered names

reread my earlier response. I described the function in dbpa that will fix your problem (tag from filename utility dsp). And it can automatically do it to a large batch of files, not track by track....
  8. Re: Files in iTunes are keeping their library names & not using the altered names

Yes, itunes is definitely using the tag information not the file names themselves. Use the "tag from filename" utility DSP within dpba (that is, "convert to: tag from filename") to automatically use...

    Re: Flac compression level 5

It was an odd problem. Never affected the TOUCH, only the Transporter. (And new firmware cured for the Transporter too). Can't recall what was actually causing the problem (and not sure I would...

    Re: Flac compression level 5

For example, In the past my Squeezebox Transporter would struggle with FLAC files encoded at 8. The problem was solved with an update to the firmware.

    Re: Flac compression level 5

more load when creating. But Essentially the same when DECODING. Also in the past some players would have problems decoding compression 8 files.
in my own case I use 5 compression.

Re: Problems with new CD Drive

One can buy a USB enclosure that allows you to install a SATA drive inside the enclosure and use it with USB connection. For example, I use this one (outdated now but something like it will be...

    Re: Error converting to FLAC

I wonder if you accidentally turned on DRM when you created those files with WMP. I don't use WMP, but I recall that there was an option to created "protected" files when ripping. If you did that,...

Re: Dbpoweramp vs exact audio copy

Best money I've spent related to my digital music hobby. It would be a bargain if it cost 5 times as much!

Re: Preserving Source Path and Filename:

You should remove your order number from this posting (edit it out). This would allow others to install using your account.
  17. Re: Need Naming String to Prevent "Unknown Artist"/No Metadata Rips from Overwriting

If both artist and album are unknown, I cant imagine any automatic solution. At least one of those items needs to have some info entered. You likely have to deal with those one at a time in some...
  18. Re: Need Naming String to Prevent "Unknown Artist"/No Metadata Rips from Overwriting

If both those items are unknown, it is not clear to me how dbpa would know to keep them separate. Looks like you are using a batch ripper. For these unknown CDs, I would do them manually and enter...
  19. Re: Need Naming String to Prevent "Unknown Artist"/No Metadata Rips from Overwriting

Do you have unknown album and unknown artist? Provide a specific example of a cd that causes this problem along with the metadata.
  20. Re: Ripped cds are of poor quality or hardly audible

No suggestions, but something is odd. The ripped FLACs should sound identical to the CD. There are settings in the HDCD that affect volume. As spoon says, rip without the HDCD DSP.
  21. Re: External CD Drive: Importance of flat surface during rip?

    Yes
  22. Re: External CD Drive: Importance of flat surface during rip?

    Yes
  23. Re: External CD Drive: Importance of flat surface during rip?

    1. Yes, that is all that matters
    2. Correct, AR all that matters. I have drives that are sitting at angles, propped partially on a magazine (not flat), etc. never has been an issue.

Re: Replaygain apply on pre-existing MP3 files

I use gain + peak. But this likely rarely matters as I do not have many tracks that would be peak limited. But I use this just in case.
