Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

Looks like you are converting to FLAC and using ID TAG UPDATE DSP as part of FLAC conversion. That's not what you want to do. If you want to delete tags, you CONVERT to "ID TAG UPDATE" DSP, not FLAC....

    Re: ripping Sony 20-bit recordings

The actual CD produced was 16/44.1. The "20 bit" was a bit of fluff advertising related I assume to things at the mastering level. You would simply rip these CDs as standard CDs.

    Re: Using 2 cores

same for me, 17.1 reference, converting FLAC to mp3 uses all my cores, no DSP effects involved.

    Re: Accurate Rip Question

The ripper doesn't have that sort of Artificial Intelligence "brain". That is, it can't learn to just "settle" for less than perfect match over time. If it can't get an AR match, one could run it a...

    Re: Bit Depth

So why does dBpoweramp have a bit depth setting or any DSP settings if all CD's should be ripped as is.

Mostly because people use it to *down*convert a 24/96 or 24/192 to 16/44.1 or 16/48. This is...

    Re: Bit Depth

As @EdBrady noted, there is zero benefit in converting a 16/44.1 file (redbook CD) to 24/xxxx. It does nothing other than make the file larger. One can't magically turn a 16 bit file into a true 24...

go back and look for the emails that were sent when you purchased. I have different order numbers for dbpoweramp than I have for perfecttunes.

Re: Enable Ultra Secure Ripping = Errors

First, it is a bit odd because typically getting secure but NOT a match happens to all tracks on a CD. But in your case it is only some. But I can say that this happens to me occasionally (it...

Re: Enable Ultra Secure Ripping = Errors

it means they ripped "securely" (the multiple dbpa passes during ripping all produced matching CRCs), but they did *not* match the AccurateRip database CRCs.

Re: Every CD not in AccurateRip

Is it a Catalina permissions issue. Don't use a Mac, but seems there are lots of things that require settings with Catalina.

    Re: File Conversation Missing Files

Do you mean change from FLAC to ALAC when ripping. Or do you mean doing a CONVERSION of FLAC to ALAC. Ripping log files are not created on conversions. Only on original rips. I'm not home, but I...

    Re: FLAC Audio Properties Question

All your assumptions are correct. By the way, I suggest you add both Track and Album ReplayGain tags when ripping. The album RG value is just another tag and you might find it useful in the future. ...

    Re: FLAC Audio Properties Question

As noted, flac is lossless. If the rips had either AccurateRip matches or, absent that, a Secure indication, you have best evidence of bitperfect copies of CD. Use dbpa defaults. Trying to convert a...

    Re: File Conversation Missing Files

odd. Take a look at the ripping log (txt file) to see if there are any errors reported or other hints. Be sure to select that you want the complete ripping log in your ripper options.

Re: Received an AR message but still Secure

because you got a secure outcome but not a match, but there is only one other rip in the AR database, you likely have a bitperfect rip. Since you have both CDs, rip them both an compare the CRCs of...

good the solution was so simple. Yep, several things get added at the end of the CD rip, so best to let finish before opening/playing/moving the files.

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...

Hmmm, your sort tags are correct. So it is not the tagging. It must be that your music server/player doesn't make use of these sort tags when listing your artists in alphabetical order.
