Re: Any tips to speed up re-rips on poor CDs?

Using a different drive can often work wonders with stubborn CDs.
  2. Re: How to add "Label" and "Copyright" field at the top of the CD Ripper UI

You can add additional fields very quickly with PerfectTUNES or Mp3tag. I use the latter for almost all tagging purposes due to macros and other automation.

Personally, I see CD Ripper as 'just'...

Re: CD with album artist and artist different

Album Artist is the most important one for most players in my opinion.

For example, if your listening to a soundtrack, I would want Album Artist as 'Various', and then then use the Artist tag to...
  4. Re: Feature Request: Pause between ripping tracks

You could select to just rip one or two tracks at a time. In cases like this though, I prefer seek out another copy of the CD, or try a different drive.

    Re: Year/Date Tagging philosophies

Personally, I would use just the year only as this will be more than sufficient - you will find it tricky to get an accurate day / month for more obscure releases and date formats differ a lot.

    I...

Re: Rip as One FLAC with CUE sheet or... what?

Yes, you're right - I was thinking of CUETools which can run a 'Verify' operation and that does have the option to write AccurateRip tags (although the numbers of tags and the data is very different...

Re: Rip as One FLAC with CUE sheet or... what?

Correct. If you do not need to reproduce the original CD then there is absolutely no need for CUE files in 2021.

If you are unsure at this stage then just get the CUE file for your first batch or...

Re: Rip as One FLAC with CUE sheet or... what?

I would agree and say that 95%+ of people do not need CUE files...

However, the poster used the word 'archive' and that can be somewhat different to just ripping your CD library for listening to,...

    AR (1) Secure

    Hi.

Just want to check my thinking is correct here.

I have a CD that currently has 1x AccurateRip entry in the database.

I ripped the CD myself and all results are Accurate (1), except one...

Issue With British Summer Time (BST)

    Hi.

Trying this out at the moment, but the time reported (on the hover pop-up at least) is not correct.

For example, if I create a file at 11:15 then Image Converter shows the date (under Date...
  11. Re: Ripping to FLAC is producing 32 bt files instead of 16

Have you got any DSP effects configured such as 'Bit Depth"? Also, load the file into MediaInfo and double check the bits per sample listed for the file there.

Re: Question from new user about metadata

You want to be using FLAC for metadata as it can use Vorbis comments meaning you can tag pretty much anything whereas WAV is not designed for extensive tagging, and I believe the tags are non-Unicode...

    Tag: WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK

    Hi.

I have recently been working on converting and tagging audio sourced from my Blu-ray media and noticed a tag called WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK in all my FLAC files.

    Looking into...

    Re: AccurateRip Database for DVD/BR?

If you were worried you could sort of do your own "AccurateRip" and rip the disc twice (or more) using a different drive and then do a bit comparison.

Not worth it though - ripping and encoding...
  15. Re: Correct Artwork, Right Music but Artist, Album & Track Names are Bollocks

Just a thought in terms of workload, but are you re-ripping (rather than converting your WAV files) because you are also concerned WMP did not rip correctly to WAV?

One thing I have done in the...

    Re: Editing Track Nos

I would suggest this means the TRACKTOTAL tag is incorrect (13 instead of 06). I would load all those files into Mp3tag (suggested) and correct the TRACKTOTAL tag from there.

    Re: ReplayGain: Disable Clip-Prevention

Thanks Spoon. For FLAC, Foobar2000 just does a scan and updates the tags - there is no re-encode / change to audio stream. The tag writing is fine in both applications, but I find the language a bit...

    ReplayGain: Disable Clip-Prevention

    Hi.

I am needing to re-apply ReplayGain tags following ripping a while back and for speed, I am finding foobar2000 quicker to do this.

However, can I confirm the option in dbPoweramp called...

Re: FLAC or ALAC, which one to choose

I would definitely say go with FLAC.

In terms of quality, it doesn't matter but ALAC does not have a built-in check (CRC) to verify the integrity of the audio - FLAC does.

    By using foobar2000...

    Re: Padded Compilation Tag

Fair point. I generally go for a more minimalist approach with tags so might just ditch this tag anyway as not sure I have it 'correctly' assigned anyway. In reading other threads, it does seem the...

    Padded Compilation Tag

    Hi.

I find tagging, and making improvements to tagging a never ending process, and today I noticed my Compilation tags (where used) are actually padded to '01' instead of '1'.

    I assume the...

    Force Secure Rip (Duplicate Checksum)

    Hi.

I have a number of obscure white noise based CDs that I would like to rip.

To my surprise, AccurateRip found an entry - but I assume this is a duplicate checksum with a music CD as the...
  24. Re: Apply De-emphasis to CD tracks marked with Pre-Emphasis

  25. Re: Apply De-emphasis to CD tracks marked with Pre-Emphasis

Does CD Ripper warn you if a CD to be ripped has pre-emphasis or is a HD-CD?

The reason I ask is that after a lot of ripping, I have only now found the 'Track Technical' column which would show...
