  1. Re: Which software do I need to change tags?

FYI Asset is only a music server, it doesn't do any editing or changing of files. The paid version has some extra features though.
I assume when you ripped your CDs you did have them tagged at that...

Re: Moving from Asset Windows to QNAP

This question seems to keep coming up a lot. Might be an idea to have a sticky that says this? Or on the products home page?
    Just a thought ;)
  3. Re: CD not ripping, flashes screen, returns to track listing

Can you do a video screen capture, then slow it down and take a snapshot?
  4. Re: How to rip 20-second snippets (or extract 20 seconds from a completed ripped trac

Interesting. Unless anyone else can think of something better, how about using DSP Effect Maximum Length (set to 1 minute), so you'd have 0:00 to 1:00, followed by DSP Effect Trim - 40 seconds from...

Re: DSD to Flac and Album Normalization

Ahh, the Apply only applies the tag values if present.
    Try Volume Normalize instead.

Re: DSD to Flac and Album Normalization

I think your problem is using the ReplayGain tags via the utility codec - your player(s) probably don't support them. It doesn't alter the audio data.
However, if you really don't mind being...

Re: New member and basic ripping set up.

Ahh yes, of course, the Multi-Encoder would be far far better. Sorry, I've never used it forgot it even existed!

Re: New member and basic ripping set up.

In CD Ripper, there's a Path field (bottom right). This would be your FLAC root folder.

In Batch Oonverter, there's Output Location, which would be where you set your MP3 root folder as Folder....

Re: New member and basic ripping set up.

I wouldn't do that. Rip to a FLAC folder, then convert to an MP3 folder. If you can, do all the ripping first, then use batch converter to convert them either all in one go or in batches, overnight...

Re: Asset uPnP Audio quality settings

Ahh, so you can tick the boxes and if no tags are present it will still upsample? Good to know, but perhaps the manual could say that? It seems a bit of a fudge - would it not be possible to be able...

Re: Asset uPnP Audio quality settings

Really? According to the manual, the upscaling is only used as part of applying ReplayGain tags:

I think Dat Ei was referring to the same thing in Music Converter (which you can only access once you have selected files). In CD Ripper it's the Naming field - see pic:

Yup, I did all my library in batches at the same time. New things added used the same since.

Well, some say... and in theory you're right. But like I said - no harm is there?

    Re: highest quality flac ripp

I'd also rip to uncompressed. If space isn't an issue, no harm.

Re: High resolution audio to cd quality

    ?
I agree that 24 bit over 16 is the biggest SQ improvement, but that's not to say the sample rate isn't. I don't know where this is coming from?

Excellent. Just did what Spoon suggested. -18 matched it, so that is what it was. I must have had the older one with -23 default :)

    Replay Gain model lost

A right bummer. My laptop broke a while ago, so have a new one and have been reloading stuff. All good so far.
BUT I have used ReplayGain Album tags on all my FLACs, and I know I didn't use the...
  20. Re: Help repairing corrupted files after hard drive crash..

Unfortunately even if you did, converting back to FLAC won't do any good. MP3s are lossy - once data is lost, it's lost.

As Spoon said, always backup your original lossless files. External hard...

Re: WAV tagging on new computer

Anther option, depending on your music server, is to transcode flac to WAV at the server-side.

Re: WAV tagging on new computer

It could be (though very highly unlikely) it's the uncompressing of flac that is doing something in his players. Uncompressed flac may (I doubt it) help. Uncomressed flac is essentially WAV afaik....

    Re: Dartagnan Cannot Find Meta-Data

You could always run the ripped files through something like mp3Tag to re-tag from any database you choose (I believe).

Re: WAV tagging on new computer

Try it uncompressed. The source data will then be exactly the same as WAV and your player won; thave to unwrap it (that shouldn;t make a difference but you never know). Then you'd hav the soundstage...
  25. Re: Losing Rating after using ID Tag Update Please Help

Can I ask why you want to remove the replay gain tags? If your renderer/server can apply them it can also turn it off if you want.
