Re: What happened to the RipNAS forum?

Also having followed your link, even though I selected the English version of the RipNAS forum all the postings are in German. I last used German at school for my O levels, and my German skills are...

Re: What happened to the RipNAS forum?

Which doesn't answer my question as to where the RipNAS forum here went. It contained useful information, which is now unavailable.

What happened to the RipNAS forum?

I know the RipNAS forum was fairly quiet, but some of the old posts had useful information in and there were occasional new questions. Now it's all gone. I use my RipNAS daily, where do I go for...
  4. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Do you know what model the motherboard is? My RipNAS didn't come with a motherboard CD and the motherboard itself doesn't appear to have a model number on it. I may be able to track down...
  5. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

This is a 2TB Western Digital My Passport 2.5" drive. It consumes 600mA on spin up and about 480mA in use. Is that likely to be OK?
  6. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Here is a picture taken more tightly on the main PCB only. The previous picture had all the relevant detail, but the forum software scaled it down massively in resolution so now it's much harder to...
  7. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Here is a picture of the inside of my RipNAS. There is no PicoPSU, the 12V plugs directly into the main PCB and the power supply is on the main PCB. This is bottom right on this picture.

  8. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Well? My RipNAS clearly doesn't have a PicoPSU fitted, it has a main board power supply. So how much current can I draw from the 5V on the USB ports?
  9. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

I found a picture, the rear panel of my RipNAS looks like this one except mine is white and I've uncovered the VGA and HDMI ports. This is clearly a different motherboard and if it's like mine the...
  10. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

I see no evidence of a Pico or any other type of PSU plugged into the motherboard on mine. It takes the 12V direct from the external supply straight into the motherboard, the 12V in connector is...
  11. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

The PSU in my RipNAS is on the Intel motherboard, it just takes 12V straight into the rear panel. I believe there may have been earlier RipNAS's with a seperate internal PSU. Which of these are you...
  12. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Thankyou, that is a much more sensible reply and makes sense technically.
  13. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

Well looking back at the internals photographs I took when I swapped the data hard disc, the RipNAS contains an Intel motherboard. So I suspect what I need is the specs for the motherboard from...
  14. Re: Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

If that's true then it means RipNAS is not USB compliant. I can't remember what it is but there's an amount of power you're supposed to be able to draw from all USB sockets and then software...
  15. Power that can be drawn from RipNAS USB sockets?

How much current can be drawn from the three USB sockets on the rear of the RipNAS? And are there any limits to which ways the current can be drawn eg. if it's (say) 200mA from each port, can I draw...

    Re: Upgrading RipNAS's HDD drives

The OS only resides on one drive, in a 20GB C: partition. So you will not be able to replace both drives by the method you describe. Furthermore your new 1.5TB drives are probable 512E 4K sectors...

    Re: My RipNAS is Full

Where is this 2 x 2TB upgrade for RipNAS advertised? I can't find it on the HFX web site.
  18. Re: Windows Home Server Console not working all of a sudden

I changed the second drive in my RipNAS from 500GB to 1TB (I have duplication turned off since I do external backups) and found it hardly any more difficult than swapping a drive in a PC. It's all a...

How to run dbpoweramp on PC

I have a RipNAS complete with all the licences that comes with. I now want to run dbpoweramp on my PC for converting file formats etc, I've run as trial version and it does what I want (convert lots...

Re: Unreliability of ripping speed change

I have tried changing the ripping speed to Maximum and then power cycling the RipNAS and it still has no effect. I did once manage to rip with the ST drive at Maximum speed but I have been unable to...

Re: Unreliability of ripping speed change

OK so this is more like a configuration setting. Pick an option and stick with it. Oh well. I've never found it to make any difference to errors in the rip, slow and fast have always produced the...

    Unreliability of ripping speed change

I usually use RipNAS set to "Silent (x4)" ripping mode to keep the noise down and to preserve life in the bearings of the optical drive. Occasionally if I have a lot of discs to rip or I'm retrying...
  23. Re: RipNAS has not ripped any CD after broadband change and Optical drive replacement

My RipNAS had the optical drive replaced by Ripcaster 6 months ago, it now has an ST unit in it. When I got it back it would rip one CD after any reboot and then would not rip any more. This turned...
  24. Re: Disc 1 and Disc 2 reporting very different confidence counts

I'm also getting a number of CDs all quoting confidence 200 for all tracks. This seems suspiscious, usually there is a bit of variation from track to track and 200 is a suspisciously round number....
  25. Disc 1 and Disc 2 reporting very different confidence counts

I have just ripped Queen Live Killers, the original EMI release. The confidence values for disc 1 are around 9 and for disc 2 around 60. This seems very odd, this is a 2CD set so surely would always...
