    Re: My Music Collection Question

    You have posted this repeatedly, even though I replied to the first of your recent "wave" of identical posts.

    Now I discovered that you posted a virtually identical question way back - on July 18,...

    Re: how to convert data into audio

    1. What were the (audio) files supposed to be - mp3? Other? What?

    2. Please give an example with one of the files that does not play automatically - what is the file's name? Size in bytes? Other...

    Re: OGG -> WAV -> MP3 ???

    Let me comment on this as well. I think a basic problem with trying to do what you describe above is that the mp3, ogg, and other audio compression algorithms work only on an uncompressed file, a wav...

    Re: OGG -> WAV -> MP3 ???

    Well, it is not quite as simple as that. Sometimes what you add or subtract, even if it by itself hard or impossible to hear, affects how you perceive the rest of the audio overall. There also are...

    Re: OGG -> WAV -> MP3 ???

    Well, as much sense as when you have to uncompress a zipped text file to be able to read it in your language. In other words, it does make sense because it has to come out of an analog device as...

    Re: Probably a stupid question...

    Isn't this answering a slightly different, thought equally important, question? I think it will be also interesting to know if, despite possible slowdowns due to concurrent disk/CPU usage, dMC is...

    Re: How do Iget results?

    Cliff,

    Could you please provide more detailed information about what you did. For example could you clarify if you did the above while logged-in as "administrator"? Also - "the program" - are you...

    Re: OGG -> WAV -> MP3 ???

    As far as I know, yes it does, so your doing a WAV first would not have resulted in any improvements. You still lost sound quality due to converting from one lossy format to another.

    Re: How do Iget results?

    If I were LimeyCliff one of the things I would do before proceeding any further would be to uninstall everything, then re-install all Illustrate programs (dMC, dBpowerAmp, etc.) while logged-on as...

    Re: Rip to a directory tree

    I am pretty certain that the constructs you define yourself are available if later you go to that same pulldown menu. So if you define a string like "Compilations/[title]/[track number.." you should...

    Re: Preserve Quality

    Sure, the bottom line is that if your ears cannot perceive a change, and you are happy with the re-encoded files, it would be OK.

    As to your second question, it will possibly vary a lot how much...

    Re: Preserve Quality

    I would still caution that re-converting to the same bit rate using a different encoder will result in additional loss of audio quality, mostly because the new encoder does not know or remember what...

    Re: Preserve Quality

    Actually this is not a very good idea. If you do this, you are guaranteed to get worse sound quality than what you started with no matter what new/higher bitrate you set. Re-encoding files coded in a...

    Re: Various MMC related requests

    Lot's of nice ideas, mate.

    It would certainly be good if most were implemented, but it looks like over-hauling MMC is not exactly Spoon's no.1 priority right now, which is a pity for me because...

    Re: dmc Audio CD Input Display Problem

    Thanks, Christina, I don't know either but might give it a try. It is not a high priority for me though since I can use dMC Input with all options visible on my other computer.

    Re: Help! Converter killed my Disc Drive!!!

    I don't think you have yet said exactly what was on that CD. And what were you converting the songs to? Was the burned CD a regular CD (PCM wav files)? Was it a CD with mp3 files? If the former, does...

    You have so much flexibility the way things are right now. Did you follow Christina's advice to go to dMC Audio CD Input --> Options --> File Creation --> Set?

    Look at the resulting little...

    Re: MMC sorting the next level

    And that's fine, of course. My MMC sorting proposals above are just something to keep in mind when you eventually get around to retooling dap/MMC.. Until then, I/we will patiently wait :)
