  1. Re: Rip as One FLAC with CUE sheet or... what?

Confirming this. I have lots of gapless CDs, and ripping to regular (separate) FLAC files maintains the lossless playback on all my various players. CUE Sheets had their use in the old days before...
  2. Re: Newly Ripped CD's Not Showing Up In Roon - Help!

can you see and play these files outside of Roon. That is, navigate to some of the 'missing' files on your computer and play on your computer with some other player? This is just to confirm the...

    Re: Newbie

You do not need to spend much. And often having two different model drives is useful. I have some CDs that would not rip error free on one drive but was fine with the other drive. All my drives are...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

Sort of correct. Yes, the data on the cd is 16/44.1. But buried in this data is some sort of indicators/flags, etc. regarding a few features (e.g., peak extension) that an HDCD capable CD player...
  6. Re: Dbpoweramp gives secure warning but eac doesn't

To put it simply, both rippers are giving you identical secure rip reports. dbpoweramp just provides more detail regarding the re-reads necessary to get to "secure". When it does this, it labels it...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

Because the HDCD DSP is upconverting the 16/44.1 file to 24/44.1. (this is why your player thinks the file is hi-res--that is, the 24 bit depth vs 16 bit depth)
  8. Re: ** HELP ** ALAC files are not 1411 KBPS Bit Rate. Instead: 944 kbps and 906 kbps.

Your customer sounds like a typical "audiophool": ignore facts and engineering, and make up one's own opinion based on myth and internet misinformation. Oh well. Good luck.
  9. Re: ** HELP ** ALAC files are not 1411 KBPS Bit Rate. Instead: 944 kbps and 906 kbps.

it's showing the compressed size estimate. I'm sure the files are lossless (16/44.1; 1,411kbps). For example squeezebox players do the same thing....show the bit rate at between 7xx and 9xx kbps. ...
  10. Re: Does anyone know of a good music audio analyzer or property reader?

dbpoweramp ID Tag program can do this. Right click on parent folder, select "dbpoweramp edit ID tags"
But I also use mp3tag (works with all sorts of files, not just mp3) and can see all tags (see...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

it's not necessarily inferior. It's just not bit perfect copy of the CD. The use of the DSP to create a 24 bit depth (capturing the HDCD's 20 bit) etc. is a way of reverse engineering to get the...

I'm really confused. If you have your files on a USB drive, just copy them to a different USB drive using your computers normal copy and paste function. I suspect something simple is happening with...
  14. Re: How To Download, Install and Activate on an "Offline" Computer. Please

sure, download the "install" programs from "illustrate - dbpa" then copy to a thumb drive, etc. Copy to computer no 2, then install. Keep in mind that metadata, tagging, artwork, checking against...

Re: Can I import from USB?

In that case, you may have little or no work. The files are already lossless FLAC. That's perfect. What are you trying to fix? Is the tagging all messed up? Or are you just trying to confirm you...

Re: Can I import from USB?

You've never actually said what CODEC you originally ripped the files with (or I missed it). Are your original rips LOSSLESS (FLAC, ALAC, or WAV)? Or are they mp3 or m4a etc. If the files are...

I did the same thing. Itunes > mp3. But reripped all the FLAC with dbpa. about 6 or 7 thousand CDs to re-rip!!! Just finished the last 1000 or so last summer during lockdown.

Dbpa is for ripping CDs and converting files. It is not a player. Install foobar2000 program on laptop and use that as your player.
  19. Re: Batch Converter DSP Effects Settings Question

to be safe, add any DSP effect only once in a single conversion. (maybe this is like the legal warnings I've seen on lawn mowers: "This device is not suitable for cutting hair or trimming...
  20. Re: Batch Converter DSP Effects Settings Question

I suspect it only accepts a DSP once per setting. But why would you want to enter any DSP twice within a single conversion? I can't think of any reason.
