Tried my luck. Upgraded to Reference and ticked Defective by Design setting, but it still won't work with either of my drives.
I only found one other 20 bit CD in my collection and it plays/rips...

PS the issue is only affecting the FLAC files.......most of the files on the 2tb drive are FLAC but i found a few mp3 files on the drive and they edit fine...i'm confused.
arrrrrgh! even after excluding db and the entire M drive from eset i am again unable to edit the files. adjusted permissions so that everything was permitted. 2tb M drive took an hour to update...
someone just sent me a link to this FLAC music player, apparently being developed by Neil Young and some other industry heavies...looks pretty cool at first glance... 64G internal and 64G micro SD...
or I guess I have to exclude the external drive and music folders from protection? seems odd I can move a flac file to the C drive, which uses the same security, and it works fine...
it always worked fine with earlier versions of eset but sure enough I disabled protection and was able to edit the tags....eset says my only option is to exclude dbp from protection....
I use eset and now that you mention it they recently upgraded me to a newer version....
