  1. Re: How do you make title of song to appear first

This would do it. But as Spoon says, it is likely your player using tags (as any good player/server would!) and not the file names themselves. Also keep in mind that using the naming string below,...

    Re: Volume Normalization

Particularly if you also maintain an archival library that hasn't had the audio modified. Then you can have your main library and a second library for use in autos and other portable devices.

  3. Re: I read this about DB Poweramp. Is this true?

sorry, this statement about dbpa ability to do secure rip and the source of AccurateRip info only being EAC is complete and utter nonsense. It's so wrong I can't even begin to explain how misinformed...
  4. Re: 2nd attempt at ripping a CD got fast Accurate rip after 1st try had frames to re-

yes, all is ok with those rips that got AR matches. Happens occasionally with me as well. Sometimes I wipe the CD after ejecting and starting over, but sometime very small things can be an issue and...

    Re: Ultra Secure settings

    for ultra secure I use
    minimum passes 2
    maximum passes 4
    end after clean passes 2

I don't tick "vary drive speed"

    Re: Hdcd dsp

But to be clear, dbpa did NOT decode the SACD to 24 bit. dbpa did not extract the SACD layer. It decoded the regular CD layer (that is also contained on the SACD physical disk) to HDCD. This "CD...

    Re: Year Before Album

there is no best option. any FLAC compression is perfectly OK. I'd use either 8 or 5.

    Re: Year Before Album

In my personal opinion, this option is silly. But at least those that believe WAV files sound better than FLAC (of course they never do this in a real double blind test) can use FLAC and get the...

    Re: Year Before Album

neither. just ALBUM. but my server/player also reports the year from the YEAR tag.
  10. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

@schmidj, Thanks. Very informative as usual!
  11. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

I can't recall whether the app supports loving. It does support rating. But I don't use either function. Also, keep in mind that replaygain/soundcheck, etc. is not perfect. It works very well for...
  12. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

leading white space sounded odd, but then I checked some of my mp3 files. The iTunNorm field also has a leading white space. And these iTunNorm values weren't created by dbpa. They were created by...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

no clue what happened there. I don't use HDCD DSP, even on my HDCDs (because I want a bit perfect rip, and ripping via the DSP you no longer have a bit perfect rip). I could later convert my rips to...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

Unlikely as one would have to have an old sony playstation with correct firmware to even try to do it. The makers of SACD disks do NOT want them ripped.

    Re: Hdcd dsp

Depends on how you define success. All you did was rip a 16/44.1 file to 24bit. That's basically meaningless (just a larger size file containing the same audio info).
  17. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

That's it: Soundcheck. I use foobar2000 MOBILE app on my iphone/ipad as a player (it can use the RG tags). Then I can load up files (even FLAC files) on these devises using TuneFusion (another...

    Re: Hdcd dsp

SACD is not the same as HDCD. Some (most?) SACD CDs have a redbook (16/44.1) layer that can be ripped just like a CD, but you're not ripping the SACD layer. The HDCD DSP has nothing to do with...
  19. Re: Batch transcoding maintaining same file structure

When the music converter popup box opens up, where you tell it the format you want to convert to, there is an "Output To" box in that popup screen, and you enter the naming info there.
  20. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

those settings are good. Mine is set at maximum of 25db as well. That must be the default. Keep in mind that iTunes and iPhones/iPads don't use the replaygain track or album tags in playback. But...
  21. Re: Mass Removing Leading and Trailing Whitespaces From a Tag Field

Where are you seeing a setting for "Maximum Gain" in the ReplayGain settings? There is no need to "manipulate" replaygain. Simply use the ReplayGain DSP in ripping or converting, and set it to add...

    Re: Flac uncompressed question

thanks for the explanation. You'd really have to know what your DAC is doing, otherwise you're doing multiple conversions of the same file.

    Re: Flac uncompressed question

Why would you want to convert a 16/44.1 ripped file to 24/96? You can't magically change a redbook CD into a high-res file. And why to 16/48? I have a hard time understanding what you are trying to...
