Try this: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
Winamp shows tags on the mp3 files before conversion, correct? If you convert to a format besides AAC, such as FLAC, do the tags carry over?
Can she play the songs in Windows Media Player? If she can't get them to play at all, you might as well delete them. If you can get them to play, there are programs that will record the songs as...
Are you wanting to remove the tab when you uninstall?
No longer necessary with R4 of the CD Writer.
Download from here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/cdwriter.htm
You might want to also look into one of the CD "resurfacers" that buffs off some of the bottom of the CD to try to buff past some of the scratches. I think one example is a SkipDoctor or similar. ...
Apple Losless (ALAC), then m4a and then mp3.

There is only one developer, Spoon, so the chance of dBpoweramp being ported to any OS besides Windows is very slim.
wayspooled: rocknharp is talking about the "Compatibility" tab on the properites of the exe, not the virtualized "XP Mode" you are referring to.
Why do you have the compatibility option set for the CD ripper? It should run in Windows 7 without needing to set that.
You probably checked for PIO on your CD drive, but also check for it on the IDE channel for your HDD.
I think currently dBpoweramp appends gaps to the previous track.
