Re: Can't set CD ROM Ripping Speed any more.

I have no reason to big up the item for a review, it's unpaid and have done this purely for my own research. Simple thing would be for me to send anyone unsure some sample files via Dropbox I guess,...

Re: Can't set CD ROM Ripping Speed any more.

I used to think above regarding the computer data example also. However, I learnt that music files aren't constructed the same way as data files. Indeed I started with a £20 drive, but wondered why...

Re: Time for a 2018 drive accuracy list?

I see this forum is for people who refuse to actually listen! There is science to this! All CD rippers use error correction, if this takes place then you get 'guessed' data from the circuit in the...

Re: Time for a 2018 drive accuracy list?

I've spent quite a lot of time testing drives and listening to the results. Mains powerered drives work better as they have more juice to keep up with the data flow and pick up errors. The best...

Re: Can't set CD ROM Ripping Speed any more.

I can prove this is listening tests, which I've written up the results and are due to be published in a magazine in September. The Melco D100 drive, which rips at much lower speed, gives far better...

Re: Can't set CD ROM Ripping Speed any more.

This isn't correct. The slower you rip, the less vibrations so the less errors from the drive itself. Accurip only checks the file size. It can't account for error correction that's already taken...
