Re: Insecure ripping of brand new disks

    Spoon doesn't lie.

    Tried it with:
    a) old plextor PX-W4012A - ripped first track accurately, then died (always was a bad drive, I should chuck it)
    b) Matsushita SR-8587-B - inaccurate
    c) Pioneer...

Re: Insecure ripping of brand new disks

I'm not convinced that the drive is at fault. I ripped another disc, and it went flawlessly.

I understand that there are non-standard redbook and intentionally bad discs. This is a Columbia...

Re: Insecure ripping of brand new disks

Just as a follow up. Eurythmics Greatest Hits (European Import).

    EAC won't do it either.

Tried Burst mode in both as well, and all the files have some amount of distortion or tiny...

Re: Insecure ripping of brand new disks

I'm not sure I have the same problem, but after playing with the C2 pointers and lead-in/out, I still can't rip a spotless Eurythmics Greatest Hits disc. Each track reports insecure. I just ripped...

Re: Batch converting Flac compression from 8 to 6

    Sorry, I think you misunderstand.

The Squeezebox Touch isn't up to the challenge of decoding from -8, because the highly compressed files take more computing power to decode than does a -6.

    The...

Batch converting Flac compression from 8 to 6

I'm trying to avoid overloading my Squeezebox touch. Most of my files were encoded at -8, but for the minimal extra space, I'd like them at -6. Is this possible, withough losing tag information,...

    Re: Write Metadata file

It doesn't seem to like when I add this DSP effect. Does it need to have a pre-made file to write to, or is it smart enough to create the file in the correct format?

Can this be run in converter...

    Write Metadata file

Can anyone tell me how to do this? Will this write AMG tags to a file?

    Re: Delayed encoding (multi-core)

Is there no way to detect this, and prevent the wasted time? I know there aren't that many CD's encoded in 20-bit, but still, sometimes they don't exactly advertise it, and I'd like to rip them in...

    Re: Delayed encoding (multi-core)

Never mind about EAC, it's not that.

It only happens when I have the HDCD dsp running. I've removed it from the list.

Is there any way to tell if cd-ripper is actually using it. It would be...

    Re: Delayed encoding (multi-core)

    I'll give it a try.

An interesting thing I just noticed - when I have EAC open at the same time, it seems to operate as expected.

    Re: Delayed encoding (multi-core)

I encoded flac to flac, using dmc, and it works properly (and really fast). I'm guessing this is a problem in CD-ripper somehow.

    Re: Delayed encoding (multi-core)

Sorry, I don't understand. Rip to wav and then convert to flac after with converter?

Well, I wiped the install clean and started over from scratch. Still no change.

    I've been watching it for...

    Delayed encoding (multi-core)

I had been using version 13.4ref prior to purchasing 13.5ref. I was amazed at how quickly 13.4 ripped and encoded, which was one of the reasons for the purchase.

    With 13.5, I've noticed that...
