Some CD Albums have two or more works on them, eg, Beethoven's 6th & 8th Symphonies.
Im wondering what is the best practice here ... treat as a single album, or split into two 'logical' albums....
Ive been wondering about some of this stuff too.
Is STYLE recognised by all players? And I guess that has two aspects ... is it displayed as part of the song info, and is it searchable in smart...
Thanks for all this. I guess I'll have to check the various tag editors etc to see if they only alter the cnaged fields vs writing the whole set back to the file. Ripping is easy enough to get...
Many thanks. I think I get the basic message (but not wanting to quibble I think I have seen in various places lists of ID3 Genre codes but I admit I havent checked to see if they all agree!!)
...
Not sure where to ask this ... if this is the wrong place please re-direct me.
I'm having trouble finding documentation on the purpose of the Style and Mood tags. Genre is well defined in the ID3...
Thanks, Spoon.
So I guess I need to ask Jeorg if iPeng really uses the url for disc tracks (ie can I ignore it).
Relative paths might be part of a solution except that mp3 and FLAC have different...
Till now I havent delved into playlists much. But looking for ways to solve a problem has made me realise Im not at all sure how playlists are handled by players.
The problem is that I tend to use...
Thanks spoon. I might suggest this function be promoted out of the "options" menu to have a specific "button" on its own. To me at least, "options" isnt an obvious place to look for an action...
Is there a way to have DeDupe create a file listing the duplicates? The file should contain path, filename, artist, album, track name, bit rate, encoding ... maybe more but that will get started.
...
Hope this isnt a silly question - but when comparing lossy files in different formats / bitrates, could the player affect one's preference? Im talking mid range equipment here (ie iPad + phones...

Yes it was 3 right out of 4 tries. Obviously very small sample.
Home-made V0 vs iMatch - what you say makes sense and is where I was headed.
And the interesting thing will be to see how low I can...
Yes the basic logic of all this is pretty clear.
My main questions at the moment are: Apple 256k from iMatch vs v0 mp3 from my FLAC for iOS versions of the good stuff; and is the quality / space /...
Thanks that confirms what I thought.
Is there anything to help with the "which is better" question?
And yes as I suspected youre right about the last question. My one quick test, I was 3/4...
Took a very quick run at the ABX thing in FB2000, looks interesting.
It has raised one question for me tho about ABX (which Ive only just discovered.
Am I correct that its purpose is to determine...
BrodyBoy - that sounds very promising and Ill certainly check into for future rips. My current problem though is re tagging some already ripped CDs. Im guessing that rule-based manipulation is...
Can I do this
SET Title = [composer] - [title]
to catenate the composer onto the front of the title
BTW I get rather confused as to when / whether to capitalise tag names
Is there a rule of thumbs as to which of the following will give best sound quality (ignore space factor)?

Where can I find the reference manual for coding this? What I would like is the following (using ISWIM)

So to summarise (want to be sure I have this right before I get too far down the yellow brick road)
"use iTunes" => playing games with "ticked" to avoid LMS picking up both versions of lossless...
Took a quick look at those plugins... I guess I have to read up on how they are used. So far Im a pretty unsophistiated LMS user.
Where can I find "plugins for dummies"?
One problem of course with...
AHA. Neat idea using two 'higher level' folders, although SBS (=LMS?) accepts multiple folders.
And I assume you do not 'use iTunes' in LMS?
Currently I do (Ive only just started making the FLAC...
I suspect one can go a long way with Windows explorer (showing all the relevant columns) and right-click Edit ID Tag.
But its also good to be able to see the complete song list (ie ravelling all...
