I just ripped a CD to FLAC, all tracks list as Accurate.
When I listen (via Foobar2000 or VLC), I hear lots of little clicks and other artifacts. I then played the corresponding CD from the same...
Brother, I share your OCD!
(In fact, I suspect that most folks who find themselves here do too! ;)
But I'm not going to buy new CDs for the ones that don't pass as Accurate. So, imho, when a...
But if it is inaccurate in bother cases, why would somebody prefer an "inaccurate click" over an "inaccurate interpolation" -- it seems like if there's going to be an error, it may as well be subtle...
A related follow-up question -- your intructions indicate different settings depending on whether the cd drive "supports C2 error pointers well" -- how can I know whether my drive supports C2 error...
Thanks -- but if Interpolate hides the pops isn't that better than not hiding them?
Also, with C2 on, I seem to get many"Insecure" tracks that otherwise show up as "Secure" with C2 off.
I'm having trouble understanding how to configure db to get optimally accurate rips, and also trouble understanding what the "rip status" (following a rip) means.
For example, my drive seems to...
Ah, I now see that in db I can choose 250x250, 200x200, 150x150, 120x120, and 75x75 -- via Meta > Settings > AMG
(and, presumably, that actually means 250x{up to 250}, etc.)
-Scott
Sorry, two more settings:
1) sample offset is +667 -- should I "reset to zero"?
2) should I check "read into lead-in or lead-out"?
thanks.
Thanks -- this seems a bit odd to me.
On the AMG site, the images are 200 wide, whereas via db I can only get 150 or 250, is that right?
The issue is that some are missing, but it's a bit...
Sorry to keep asking the same question, but what does a check next to Secure mean, vs. a plus? And what do all the numbers mean? (I just want to be sure I know how to read it when I'm ripping)
...
But what if the second does the same?
And some CDs won't be in Accurate -- when I see Secure with a check, that doesn't mean that I can trust it to be a solidly good rip?
Also, I guess I don't...
Hi all, two questions about the folder.jpg files...
1) they don't all seem to have the exact same pixel size -- all so far have been 150 wide, but the height varies (up to 150, but sometimes...
Hi all, is there a good place to read up on what all the different "rip status" values mean?
I've been trying some test rips, with varying results.
For example, sometimes I get all Accurate,...
Thanks -- I mostly expect to play FLACs via player apps (most likely VLC, with Foobar2000 coming in second) -- do you happen to know which tags those apps prefer with FLAC?
When you say that some...
Is one type "more compatible" than the other? For example, will player apps look for both kinds of tags for FLAC files?
Likewise, if I want to later transcode the FLACs to MP3s, will that work...
3 months from purchase to activate AMG, and then one year from purchase that AMG will work, yes?
If that's right, one more (my apologies, as I thought that was the last)...
I'll be ripping to...
Thanks -- let me see if I understand...
If I download your reference trial today, use it for a week, and decide to purchase a copy...
I then have 3 months to activate AMG, or I have to change...
Sorry, one more question (last, I hope!)...
I read on the forum that if I need to reinstall, I lose AMG support, is that right? Do you have a page up that explains this?
thanks, -Scott
I'm sorry, I find this a bit confusing!
Isn't 'powerpack' the lower priced version and 'reference' the higher priced version?
If so, what does it mean if I get r12 reference and upgrade it to...
Thanks -- if I get reference now, does that qualify me for dMC r13 when it becomes available?
Sorry if I seem to be asking the same question, but I'm not sure that it has been answered -- if I get reference, do I get unlimited/non-expiring MP3 encoding?
thanks, -Scott
But if the reference trial lasts 3 weeks, then the AMG trial is effectively 3 weeks, no?
In any case, ther reference purchase includes unlimited/non-expiring MP3 encoding, right? The only limited...
To be sure I understand -- are you saying that the reference trial is 3 weeks for AMG and MP3? And if I purchase it, it's AMG for 1 year, and MP3 forever?
Hi all,
I gather db comes with a "one month trial" for AMG lookups (including db's 'reference' version) and that, beyond the first month, it then costs $5/year for AMG access, is that right?
...
Hey Ney,
What makes you think VLC would transcode FLAC to LAME?
Also, I think you said earlier that you had Winamp working with M3Us of FLACs -- but that didn't seem to work for me if the FLACs...
