OK, here's my experience:

I've installed R17 and have burned a few more multi CD albums. If I completely turn off ID tag processing, I do not get a folder.jpg in either the AIFF or FLAC...

I don't... that's what kind of weird. I checked ID Tag DSP, and the only encoder that is exporting artwork at all is FLAC, and it goes to the sub folder.
