The AAC issue does not affect ALAC, and it is only when converting from specific AAC files.

It sounds like a low level issue with USB, outside of any program such as dBpoweramp trying to access it.
Uninstall all dBpoweramp Programs, that link above can help. Then first install dBpoweramp registered, then install Batch Ripper to the same location.
