  1. Re: CD in AccurateRip but errors as if it's copy-protected

That&*8217;s kind of a bummer. I&*8217;ll probably buy a different pressing.
  2. CD in AccurateRip but errors as if it's copy-protected

    Hi all,

Please see the screenshots I've attached. I have a CD that is supposed to rip accurately but each track flies through all of the possible passes in the ripping process, only to give me...
  3. Re: Variations in mastering? CD ripping a flawed process?

Very interesting to read. A key piece of information that I've learned has to do with the one frame limitation you mentioned. I wonder who or what caused that to be the case.
  4. Re: Variations in mastering? CD ripping a flawed process?

I think that explains why you do not often see gapless albums available for digital download.
  5. Re: Variations in mastering? CD ripping a flawed process?

Thanks for the response. If I were to purchase a track from the Apple iTunes Store, listen to it and not hear a click at its beginning or end, would you say that would be the result of the source...
  6. Variations in mastering? CD ripping a flawed process?

    Hi all,

I have posted about this before and I apologize if you recall reading about this particular issue a number of other times. I am just trying to understand why a specific issue occurs with...

    Re: PerfectTUNES contradicting itself

Somehow a week has gone by and I was just able to check on this now. It's still reporting an error but I honestly believe there is nothing wrong with the file. The file itself has a confidence 94 and...

    PerfectTUNES contradicting itself

    Hi all,

I wanted to make sure a rip of mine was okay after I transferred files from my PC to my iMac. The files from the original rip are accurate. Confidence levels for each of the tracks in the...

Re: Beginnings of songs cut off

I started a thread a few weeks ago about this particular situation. I was initially reluctant to use Audacity to edit my files. However, I am wondering if you could confirm that if I set the dither...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Thank you for your help. I will try to find another drive and see how it does. I think my current drive simply doesn't read discs at the right places.

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Yes. I uploaded the files to my Google drive, downloaded them on an entirely different computer, and listened with headphones. My gut tells me the issue has to do with the files. I should mention...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

I agree that the forum format can create confusion. I have been backed up with work-related things but I will try something other than foobar2000 or the Apple player to see what happens.

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Yes, the files are the same on other computers. I am connecting my phone to an external amplifier. Perhaps that could be the cause of the problem.

    Re: Still confused about offsets

I'm sorry, I think I could describe the situation a little better. The Apple player is gapless. I understand what you are thinking - if the player isn't gapless, then there will definitely be pops...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

I just use the music app on the iPhone. I sync my phone to my computer and play the music the same way you would play songs from the iTunes Store or other download sites. It confuses me that this has...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Yes, I play the music on my phone or Mac. I must emphasize that the pops only take place if there is no silence between tracks. I'm gathering that this isn't supposed to happen, regardless of whether...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Thank you for this response. I have heard about the tagging issue as well as the fact that CD players use fading techniques to mask unwanted sounds. I have definitely encountered the issue of wrongly...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

I rip to AIFF and play music on my iPhone XS. The pops are heard when playing the music on my computer as well. The pops vary in severity. It has to do with how much of a previous track is extending...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

Not all albums, just certain ones. It happens with specific tracks, usually ones that end abruptly without any seamless transitions or silence.

    Re: Still confused about offsets

That makes sense. However, what can I do about albums that arenít gapless? If an album plays without a pop on Spotify, then why does it have a pop if played from a CD rip? The only explanation I can...

    Re: Still confused about offsets

I see what you mean. I should clarify that the audible pop is heard only when isolating track 5 and not playing it as part of the sequential album. This happens with other albums that are structured...

    Still confused about offsets

    Hi all,

I have been trying to get to the bottom of this particular issue for a while. I appreciate everyone's help thus far, but I am still confused. If my drive's read offset is +6, then I know...

Re: Pop noises at start of SOME tracks

So the fade in is only at the beginning of a CD? I'm thinking a CD player would be able to prevent the pops from being heard because of the way it reads the data vs. the way my computer's drive reads...

Re: Pop noises at start of SOME tracks

I was just thinking - if these CDs are mastered poorly, would I be able to hear the pop if I were switching between tracks with a CD player?
