Problems Enabling C2 Support for C2 enabled drives

Fresh Windows 10 pro install it was not upgraded. I purchased 3 new dvd drives since my old ones are getting flakey. All of the new drives report c2 support but when I try to detect c2 support the drive light blinks infrequently and nothing happens with the progress bar. I have let it sit for 5-10 minutes. If I just check the c2 errors box it will not rip a disc. Another ripping application successfully senses and uses c2 errors with these drives. The old drives still use c2 errors just fine. I am not sure if this matters but I backed up the profiles registry settings from my Windows 7 install and incorporated them into my Windows 10 pro install. I was using the latest reference version R16 in Windows 7, I upgraded it from R15.3. Before I dig out my previous Windows 7 drive and test it there I wanted to if I was missing something and/or what I need to do to get c2 errors enabled.

    Thanks

Re: Problems Enabling C2 Support for C2 enabled drives

I have been on a similar journey . . . and I discovered that the re-importing registry settings causes unpredictable outcomes.

My suggestion would be to uninstall, use the wipe tool available on this site, reinstall R16 and then profile your new drives and manually re-enter your ripping profiles.

At the risk sounding like a cracked record . . . please Spoon - can we have an application managed export / import of user settings and profiles?

New drives would not be effected by any previous settings.

Your old drives on the new Windows 10, do they detect C2 pointers when trying the detection test?

Yes, they still detect C2 pointers just fine.

It suggests an incompatibility between those drives and dBpoweramp.

I stopped by Microcenter on the way home and picked up a Samsung DVD drive and it works just fine with C2 pointers.

Here is the information shown when pressing the Technical button under settings. Would you like me to give it try with Windows 7?

Drives have been known to report c2 support, but they actually do not support it. That is why we have the actual test for c2 rather than going off the reported value.

Well then I'm confused because EAC senses and uses C2 pointers with both drives that CDRipper won't.
