Security Software Mishaps
The following lists security software which is not performing as it should, that is blocking legitimate programs (such as dBpoweramp) from running. There is nothing we can do on our side, we produce legitimate software, virus free for the last 20 years, never once have we supplied a virus, Trojan, spyware with any of our programs.
Over the years security software have even blocked core components of Windows from working, despite these components being installed on 100's of millions of PCs....having been in the business for a long time, we are seeing a trend that more and more components of our software are being detected as a false positive, this is because real viruses have become harder to detect (they mutate on each infection, so that the anti-virus program has to detect a virus with very loose characteristics), the issue is as time goes on anti-virus software will block more and more legitimate software, it is getting close to the time where anti-virus software is becoming useless.
If your program is blocked by one of the below programs, submit the affected component to your Anti-virus software company so that they can update their software.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Comodo firewall. This program stops dBpoweramp from running its conversion program (coreconverter is blocked). Replacing the firewall corrects the block.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Trend Anti-virus: is blocking Asset R4.3 from installing all files correctly. The detection is a false-positive, there is no virus in Asset.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Norton is flagging parts of dBpoweramp and PerfectTUNES incorrectly as virus. The detection is a false-positive, there is no virus in either dBpoweramp or PerfectTUNES.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Emsisoft Internet Security incorrectly blocking 'Graphic Equalizer.dll' as a virus (part of dBpoweramp). This is a false-postive, there is no virus in dBpoweramp.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Avast anti virus can block the mp3 decoder from installing (dBpoweramp R15 or PerfectTUNES). The detection is a false-positive, there is no virus in either dBpoweramp or PerfectTUNES.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Comodo anti-virus is falsely detecting dBpoweramp as having a virus (at time of install). The detection is a false-positive, there is no virus in either dBpoweramp or PerfectTUNES.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Bitdefender InternetSecurity 2015 incorrectly lists PerfectTunes (the control center) as Trojan.Generic.12175703. The detection is a false-positive, there is no virus in PerfectTunes.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Avast is incorrectly flagging 'Maximum Length.dll' DSP effect as a false positive, there is no virus in this file.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
F-Secure is incorrectly flagging CDGrab.exe as a trojan horse, this is a false positive, CDGrab.exe does not try to install anything, it simply rips CDs.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Avast is blocking dBpoweramp R15.2 64 bit install from running, the error given by the installer is:
"Error Whilst running: C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Local\Temp\xxxx.tmp-dMC-R15.2-Ref-registred-64bit__SPI_WIN64.exe".
The blocking is a false positive, there is no virus in the dBpoweramp installer.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Norton will remove any file that it now ranks as 'not popular enough', it identifies various legitimate programs as 'WS.Reputation.1', so it is not blocking actual viruses, but programs which do not have hundreds of thousands of users, such as Asset UPnP (dBpoweramp should be ok though).
See:
http://community.norton.com/en/forums/clarification-wsreputation1-detection
Consider getting a less 'stupid' anti virus.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
We have reports of Norton removing the latest version of Asset on Windows.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
...and Norton again, this time it is removing dBpoweramp R16.1
To recap, dBpoweramp contains no virus, it is a false positive, your options:
whitelist dBpoweramp in Norton,
report the affected item to Norton so they can whitelist,
change your anti virus for something a little less stupid.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Symantec Anti Virus is marking R16.1 as 'WS.Reputation.1', this is because it is a new release and this particular anti virus will block all new programs (how dumb), report dBpoweramp to Symantec, and disable the anti virus to install, or white-list.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
We are getting reports of Google Chrome blocking both dBpoweramp R15 and PerfectTUNES R2, google chrome reports these files are malicious. Note neither of these programs have ever contained a virus, malware, or other nasty.
Sadly google do not have a reporting function so there is little we can do to redress this issue except that to advise you to use a different browser to download.
** Update, it is only older versions of chrome which are blocking, perhaps Chrome is blocking all downloaded programs because it is out of date. Update to the latest Chrome to fix the issue **

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Malwarebytes is reporting dBpoweramp R16 is 'Ransomware'.
To recap, never once in 18 years has dBpoweramp contained any virus or other nasty, dBpoweramp contains no ransomware (ransomware is where a program would take over the computer and demand money to release access), your options:
report the affected item to malwarebytes so they can whitelist,
change your security software for something a little less stupid.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
'Bitdefender Total Security' is silently uninstalling the latest R6.1 Asset (including icons), set Asset to be whitelisted, or uninstall Bitdefender for ease of mind.
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Bitdefender again...It is flagging both dBpoweramp Video Converter and dBpoweramp Image Converter as 'Atc4.detection'
The real malware here is Bitdefender, search in google for:
Atc4.detection
84,000 results of people saying bitdefender is removing parts of legitimate software (I counted 10 different products on the first few pages alone).
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
...Bitdefender again (you seriously should consider changing to better security software, it is no joke that every product we produce they are all prevented from running by bit defender, that is 6 separate products).
This time dBpoweramp Music Converter R16.4 is prevented from running.
We recommend that Bitdefender is removed from your system to enable legitimate programs to run.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
AVIRA Antivirus is blocking TuneFUSION.
To recap, never once in 18 years have our programs contained any virus or other nasty, your options:
report the affected item to AVIRA Antivirus so they can whitelist,
change your security software for something a little less stupid.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Bitdefender (yet again), it has appeared on this list so many more times than other security software. This time it is detecting .bin .tmp .lnk files used by asset as virus on Windows, anyone who knows computers will know a .bin and .tmp file are not possible to run, they are binary data so cannot possibly be a virus. A .lnk file is 22 bytes long and is the icon shortcut to Asset, Bitdefender is a joke.
Also Bitdefender is false positive Asset on Qnap and Synology. Replace Bitdefender with decent security software.

Re: Security Software Misshaps
Malwarebytes is blocking CD Ripper on OS X from running (all latest versions of dBpoweramp).
-
Re: Security Software Misshaps
Malwarebytes again (I think for the last 15 years they have blocked some part of dBpoweramp):
R2022-09-02 Windows: Blocked Reported as Malware.Ransom.Agent.Generic
This is a false report.
-
Re: Security Software Mishaps
Windows defender (a first time this has blocked dBpoweramp) is blocking a part of our installer, the program is very small and simple (it takes the order number and transfers from the install to dBpoweramp Control Centre).
The report:
Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml
Alert level: Severe Status:
Active Date: 03/09/2022 08:37
Category: Trojan Details: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker. Learn more
Another false positive.

Re: Security Software Mishaps
Bitdefender again - it is blocking foopackageops.exe from running. This is a false positive, along with the other 10 or so false positives bitdefender has incorrectly shown over the years.
