Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...
I try to eliminate anything in the sort tags that is irrelevant. So I would simply show Corea, Chick and get rid of the quotes. Same for things like brackets, this makes it more consistent regardless of the tag to make sure they group together. It work for my library, currently around 25k songs.
And for the record, I too am pretty diligent with my tags, have been since I started ripping my CD library around 2002 or so. And yet there are still titles that pop up when I shuffle the deck that I need to go back and find. Doubt I'll ever really be done!
Hi GBrown,
OK, I hear you. As I say, I thought it was a good idea at the time. I have also used 'brackets' in places, annoyingly so!
I'm not sure if there is a fast and easy way of correcting these?; or if you have to deal with them CD by CD?

1. dbpa Batch Converter, convert to "ID Tag Update" and use various options to replace names
2. PerfectTunes
3. mp3tag 'actions' to do the same basic thing as item 1 above. This can also get very fancy and strip out all " and ' etc. but I've not used that function and requires a bit of regedit formulation....

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...
If your sort tags contain non-alphabetic characters, this should not be a problem unless you have tags like:
Corea, "Chuck" and Corea, Chick
where you expect the sort order (ascending) to be:
Corea, Chick
Corea, "Chuck"
because, it will probably be:
Corea, "Chuck"
Corea, Chick

Hi Garym,
Are these are 3 different methods for achieving the same end result? Or 3 individual steps which make up a single process?
Cheers,
Paul

Many thanks. I'll test later...

Yes, I know, but it is only a problem if you ever have the situation as described in post no. 768, which is unlikely.

Hi Garym,
I am quite unsure as to how to proceed, I am afraid. I guess I must have the wrong option selected? (please see attach.)
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Tags, Tags, and more Tags ...
Looks like you are converting to FLAC and using ID TAG UPDATE DSP as part of FLAC conversion. That's not what you want to do. If you want to delete tags, you CONVERT to "ID TAG UPDATE" DSP, not FLAC. Then within the conversion popup box you can delete tags, etc.
