I seem to have both codecs on my system but the converter tool only says "there was an error whilst running" when trying to do so.
Any ideas?

Paste the full error message please.
Well now it seems to not show the converter tool in my context menu when right clicking on a TTA file. It does appear when right clicking on other file types.
We do not support TTA.
