Hi,

I'm doing a research project on internet codecs. I need to find out on usage of famous video codecs such as divx and famous audio codecs such as aac. Can you give me pointers to where I can find such info?

I need to know about which ones are famous, background on each, tools to play at home with them, what do users want... At the end, I would need to do a powerpoint presentation in front of my class on internet codecs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :smile2:

Thanks,
Suresh

http://www.divx.com for Divx. There's also H.264 for video which is encoded by QuickTime Pro.
Of course, there's mp3, wma, m4a/mp4, ogg, aac. Just use google to try to find a consolidation of documentation on these formats. A website like wikipedia might help too.

For audio codecs, I would suggest you startr with this link at hydrogenaudio.org which will help you access the wikipedia entries on a variety of well-known formats:
