Looks like MS did it again and made the next round of WMA. looks on paper like the next thing. Any plans to support this soon?

They have not released the SDK yet, when they do I will update the WMA codecs.

Microsoft release Windows Media SDK at this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/default.asp?contentid=28000411&frame=true

You have the Windows Media Component Setup Application (wmfdist.exe) in the Windows Media Format 9 Series SDK at the same page.

Thank in advance for release wma 9 series..

Have a nice day !!!

So does that mean if we install the packet from MS we can encode at WMA 9?

Yes, but... not with the vbr option and not at the several bitrate...dbpoweramp doesn't support at this time...maybe later...

you can download the wmfdist.exe here

sorry! The attach file doesn't work..you can encode with all option with windows media encoder 9 series available here (file by file): http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp

But i love so much dbpoweramp family software...for this reason i just want dbpoweramp compatible with VBR option, because now he can encode at windows media 9 at only cbr option. (When you install windows media encoder 9, dbpoweramp can encode at wma9, i'm not sure but he work now for me, and i install windows media player 9 and windows media encoder 9).

Thank you spoon for this great software !!!

It's true! When you install the new Windows Media 9 encoder from windowsmedia.com it overwrites all previous version of Windows Media. This means that even when you use db to encode and it says WMA 8 you are really encoding at WMA 9 (though not Variable bitrate... yet :) ). Just thought I'd toss that out there

Uploading the new beta codec (with VBR) to the beta section as I speak.

Just a little question, why do you guys think that vbr is better? It's just that I'm not really sure of the advantages and all.

VBR can adapt and allocate the required bitrate to the song when it needs it. It might allocate more to complex sections and less to simpler sections that don't need that many bits. It allows you to have a song that sounds equally good throughout the whole thing, not very good only in most/some sections and poor in others.

It does support 6 channels of audio, but you would have to feed it 6 channels.
