You cannot convert your source aac file to anything? Try the AAC decoder in the beta section of this forum.

just tried it, and still get the same error message. The message said "required codec to compress..." so it not the AAC code is the mp3 codec right?

Sounds like it. Has your PowerPack trial expired?

Yes, you purchase the regsitered version of dMC - which incldue the PowerPack and the license for mp3 encoder.

From the dMC Help files:

Important part: dBpowerAMP's mp3 encoder (writer) is on a time limited 30 day trial license, illustrate has provided a 100% free encoder for many years, but a legal challenge (claims of patent infringement) has forced a change, the world cannot have a free mp3 encoder so it seems. This license is purchased through the Power Pack license (a series of enhancements to dBpowerAMP: Faster CD Ripping, Handles Compilation CDs, Preview CDs, ID Tag Editing, DSP Sound Effects and more)...all for $14.

If it has expired it will say it has. Try dMC R11.1 from the beta section of this forum, its mp3 compressor is much better with non 44.1KHz 16 bit 2 channel audio files.

To see if it HAS expired, check dMC Configuration (Start --> Programs --> dBpowerAMP Music Converter --> Configuration --> dMC Configuration). But as Spoon said, it should say if it has expired. Try running a "Test Conversion (no write)" on these source files.
