I have encoded some WMA Lossless files with dBpowerAMP. If I use dBpowerAMP to decode these files back to PCM WAV files, the resulting files pass the MD5 check that was made with the original WAV files.

However...

If I use the Microsoft connamd line utilty to decode these WMA files, the resulting WAV file FAILS the MD5 check.

Can anyone verify this, or explain why this is?

Thanks,

IndyBrett

The wav files might have different headers (Waveformatex or Wavformat), hold the mouse over a file to view the header type.

Decoding with Foobar2000 gives me a PCM WAV file that passes the MD5 check, as does decoding with dBpowerAMP. I feel more secure now :)

I don't mind having only one encoder, but I like to have more than one decoder that gives the same results.

I am now converting my 400GB FLAC collection to WMA lossless. Why? I really like MS Mediaplayer 10. It has the library/database/player interface that I have been wanting.

Just in case, I still have most of the FLAC files backed up on DVD-R.
