Does anybody know how to get rid of a humming sound has soon as i plug in my stereo plug in the line-in jack on my computer. I tried a direct ground between my amplifier, computer and electrical box ground but to no avail.
I would apreciate any help, thank you.

Assuming your soundcard isn't fried, check your volume controls and see what's activated for recording and also for playback. I'd assume you want to do recording or at least take input from your line-in. So you may want to mute the microphone for this process on the Playback panel.

Lowering the volume to 2/3 for each of the input sources in the Recording panel may work as well, especially for the one you'll use, i.e. line-in.

Thanks Christinas, i had to lower My aux-input-line-in to 1/4 and mute everything else. I still here the humming through my speakers and on the recordings but it's not has bad, i guess i'll have to tolerate it for now.

Thanks a mil.

If your device that's connected to the line-in has separate volume or equalizer settings you may want to tone those down as well.

Hi,

1 Tried other speakers?
2 Reinstall soundcard driver.
3 Move PC (is there a electromagnetic interfering source near by??-;)
4 Dismantle PC, clean all conducting surfaces, then re-build.

Bye now

5. Get new PC with top of the line everything, fine-tuned by a good pc specialist

6. Get new stereo system while you are at it.

7. Repeat from step 1 :D

The thing is I'm only half-joking ;)

Guess you need to ground (earth) the computer.
