when the source wma is encoded at over 128Kbps - i get the following error message:

The file [FILE NAME] could not be opened.
Unable to open file.

If the message also indicates that the file is encrypted, then you are probably out of luck.

Do you know what version of wma codec you have? (You can check by going Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dMC Configuration-from here you can see whether you have a wma codec installed and what version, you want to check particularly for the Read/Decompression wma codec). If your wma codec is v8 or lower, you might want to install the wma v9 codec (requires that you first install Windows Media Player v9 or WMPv9 System files (from Codec Central).

You may also want to look at the frequency of your wma 128/128+ bitrate files. Check for their frequency, their number of bits, number of channels. If these are different than the settings for the format you are trying to create either enable Professional Frequency Conversion (from the dMC Configuration window) or try converting first to wav and then to your preferred format.

If none of these ideas help, please let us know about the specifics of the wma files I asked about, about what version of the wma codec you are using and about the settings and format for the files you are trying to create.
