I am using the dbpowerAMP Audio player and like it very much. I downloaded and installed dbpowerAMP CD Writer unregistered and tried to burn a 74 min CD from MP3s and as soon as I click Burn CD, a box with the error "NO CD Writers Found" pops up. I have a CD writer, Plexwriter CD-R PX-W8432T, and it works using Adaptec Easy CD. Win 98 System. Can you help?
Thanks,
Randall

If you install dbpoweramp music Converter are you able to rip cds?

No, the error "The CODEC required to decompress 'E:\Track01.cda' could not be opened. Unable to access CD Drive 'E:\Track01.cda'"

Is drive E: your cd rom drive in which you have placed the cd? If not, then use dMC Audio CD Input > Options and check which cd rom drive is being used as input.

Also you may want to run the dMC Audio CD Configuration program and select different settings which may work for you.

No idea if any of this addresses your original question though

Drive E: is my cd writer, and I have yet to find any settings to make any difference.

Do you have one drive or 2?
Can you confirm whether you are creating a cd from mp3 files on your hard drive (which is what your first post suggests) or are you trying to copy a cd (which is the impression I get from your error message)?
If you have set up your mp3 files to create a cd and you push the button that says burn, does a new window open where you can specify the drive to write from?

I have two cd drives, E: being the writer. I am trying to create a cd from mp3s on my hard drive. I can right click and convert the files, but when I click the Burn CD icon, I immediately get an error box stating "NO CD Writers Found". No other window opens.

In the first response in this thread I was asked if I was able to rip CDs, thus the second error message I reported.

Thanks,
Randall

In dMC CD Writer, can you try to click on Eject CD and see if the proper drive door opens (if at all)?

Also, did you first click on the New button next to Writing Audio CD?
Did you select and copy the proper files shown in the browser window on the right over to the cd tracks side?

After the cd (which at this point is only an image in memory) has been populated with tracks, when you click on Burn CD this is when the window should open up allowing you to select the proper drive, etc.

Sorry if I'm asking things that you may have already done, but I'm trying to rule out other problems.

Randall-
You may want to check out the tips given in the Support Section of the overall dB Site here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dcw-support.htm (the page for the CD writer). Since you have a Win 98 system this looks like it may address your issue.
BTW-I assume you have added the two extra system update items for Windows 98 (DCOM and Common Controls)? If you have not you may want to download and install these (from the Music Converter download site-link at the top of this page) first.
Best wishes,
Bill Mikkelsen

Thanx to xoas

This is little a long, sorry:

I checked out the Support Section link xoas provided, downloaded and ran the 'Adaptecs ASPI Version Checker' with the following result:

LOG0143: ************************************************** ***************

Next I downloaded and ran the 'ASPI Drive Lister' with the following result:

I then went and downloaded the 'Adaptec ASPI 4.71 update', and ran the update per the instructions, rebooted and reran the 'Adaptecs ASPI Version Checker' with the following result:

I then reran the 'ASPI Drive Lister' with the following result:

Init Returned: No Adaptors

I opened dbpowerAMP CD Writer, clicked BURN CD the same as before and received the same error, No CD Writers Found.

I was then directed by the Support Section to this site:

http://www.chickensys.com/translator/misc/aspiproblems.html

to manually install the ASPI drivers. Followed the instructions, which had me manually replace the ASPI files, then rebooted, ran the update, rebooted, and now when I run the 'Adaptecs ASPI Version Checker' with I get the following result:

LOG0143: ************************************************** ***************

I then ran the 'ASPI Drive Lister' with the following result:

Adaptor 0, Target 0, Lun 0, SCSI Type: CDROM, ASPI Type: CDROM [PLEXTOR - CD-R PX-W8432T]
Adaptor 0, Target 1, Lun 0, SCSI Type: CDROM, ASPI Type: CDROM [E-IDE - CD-ROM 56X ]

Now when I go to dbpowerAMP CD Writer and click BURN CD I get the proper window saying "dbpowerAMP CD Writer - Ready to Burn CD".

I can now burn a CD succefully.

Thanks to all who helped.
