By music CD do you mean an Audio CD as opposed to a (data) cd of MP3 files?

If you are making a standard audio cd, you have no real choice of format but you can and should specify the length of your cd (which should be no longer than the capacity of your blank CD's-74 minutes for a 650 mb cd, 80 minutes for a 700 mb cd).
If you are wishing to burn in another format, your choice of format should depend on your purpose for burning the cd in the first place. If you intend to play the disc on a car cd/mp3 player or a portable mp3 player then you would want to burn your audio files to mp3 format. If your car or portable player supports and plays wma files and if you are looking to get as many files as possible onto your cd then you would want to consider wma. If the files are for backup or for playing on another computer, then I would recommend using whatever your preferred format might be. If you are concerned about backing up and preserving the audio quality of your audio files, then you should consider using one of the lossless codecs.
Hope this helps.
