Cannot Open *.APE files

Hi

I Downloaded dmc but encountered a problem when I went to use it for the first time.
When I try to open *.ape files to convert to mp3 I get a message which says the file cannot be opened.

However if i take an mp3 file and convert it to ape format then i convert the same ape file back to mp3 it is ok.

How can I fix this Please?

Have you installed the Monkeys Audio codec from codec central?
